Vertical Injection Moulding Machines
Pratishna Engineers makes vertical injection moulding machines extensively used for producing insert-moulded parts such as plug tops with brass pins, terminals, connectors, cable assemblies, parts with threaded bushes and components moulded over metal or other plastic parts. In a vertical machine the mould opens and closes vertically or the injection comes from above, so inserts can be placed in the lower mould half and stay located by gravity.
Pratishna Engineers is one of the top and trusted vertical injection moulding machine manufacturers in India. Headquartered in Mumbai, Pratishna has 35+ years of experience and more than 9,000 machines supplied to over 1,000 customers, offering vertical machines with both horizontal and vertical clamping for insert and overmoulding work, backed by in-house engineering and after-sales support.
Pratishna builds two vertical designs. The PV Series has a horizontal clamp with vertical injection, which injects at the parting line and suits moulding on cables, wires and parts where the insert passes through the mould. The PVDL Series has a vertical clamp with vertical injection, where the operator or a robot loads inserts into an upward-facing lower mould, which suits plug pins, terminals, bushes and multi-insert parts.
The right vertical machine depends on the insert, part and mould layout, how inserts are loaded, shot weight and output. Share your part drawing, insert details and production requirement with Pratishna Engineers to identify a suitable vertical injection moulding machine.

Vertical Injection Moulding Machines by Series
Pratishna vertical injection moulding machines are available in two series. The PV Series (horizontal clamp, vertical injection) comes in 40 and 55 ton models, and the PVDL Series (vertical clamp, vertical injection) comes in 40, 60 and 80 ton models.
Choose the series by how the insert enters the mould and how parts are loaded and removed, then choose the tonnage by projected area, shot weight and cavities.

More About Vertical Injection Moulding Machines

What Is a Vertical Injection Moulding Machine?
A vertical injection moulding machine has its clamp, its injection unit or both arranged vertically, which makes it easy to place inserts in the mould and hold them in position.

How Does Insert Moulding Work on a Vertical Machine?
Inserts are placed in the lower mould half, the mould closes, plastic is injected around them and the finished part is removed before the next set of inserts is loaded.

Horizontal vs Vertical Injection Moulding Machines: Key Differences
The difference is the axis on which the clamp and injection act, which changes how easily inserts are loaded and how parts are removed.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
The answers our engineers give most often, before a specification is agreed.
What Is a Vertical Injection Moulding Machine Used For?
It is mainly used for insert moulding and overmoulding, where metal or plastic inserts must be placed in the mould and held in position while plastic is injected around them. What Is the Difference Between the PV and PVDL Series?
The PV Series has a horizontal clamp with vertical injection and injects at the parting line. The PVDL Series has a vertical clamp with vertical injection, with an upward-facing lower mould for loading inserts.Which Series Suits My Insert-Moulded Part?
Parts moulded onto cables, wires or long inserts that pass through the mould usually suit the PV Series. Plug pins, terminals, bushes and multi-insert parts loaded into the lower mould usually suit the PVDL Series.Which Tonnage Options Are Available?
The PV Series is available in 40 and 55 tons, and the PVDL Series in 40, 60 and 80 tons. Why Are Vertical Machines Better for Insert Moulding?
With a vertical clamp, inserts rest in the lower mould half under gravity and do not fall out before the mould closes. Loading is faster and safer than placing inserts in a vertical mould face on a horizontal machine. Can Vertical Machines Be Used With Sliding Moulds?
Yes. Sliding-mould versions let the operator load inserts in one lower mould while the other is being moulded, which shortens the cycle for insert-heavy parts. The configuration is confirmed with the application.
Which Products Are Commonly Made on Vertical Machines?
Plug tops with brass pins, electrical terminals and connectors, cable and wire overmoulding, parts with threaded brass bushes, sensor housings, needle and catheter hubs and small parts moulded over metal.Which Plastic Materials Can Vertical Machines Process?
PP, PE, PVC, ABS, PC, nylon, PBT, POM and TPE, with the screw and barrel matched to the material. PVC compounds for cable and plug moulding need suitable temperature control. Can Robots or Automation Load the Inserts?
Yes. Insert loading and part removal can be done by an operator or automated, depending on volume, insert type and cycle target. What Is the Price of a Vertical Injection Moulding Machine?
There is no single fixed price. Cost depends on series, tonnage, mould arrangement, sliding or rotary options and automation. Pratishna Engineers provides a quotation based on your part and production requirement. Can Pratishna Check Whether My Existing Insert Mould Will Fit?
Yes. Share the mould dimensions, mould height, insert details, shot weight and ejection requirement, and Pratishna Engineers will check compatibility with a suitable vertical machine.Does Pratishna Provide Installation and Operator Training?
Yes. Pratishna Engineers provides installation, commissioning, operator training and after-sales technical support. The exact scope of support is confirmed with the quotation and machine supply terms.
