Injection Moulding Machine for Tiffin and Lunch Boxes

Tiffin and lunch boxes are produced as a set of separate tools on horizontal injection moulding machines, in PP, SAN or copolyester with TPE gaskets. Body, inner containers, lid and latch each need a mould, and the largest body mould sets machine size. Latch stiffness and gasket compression matter most for leaks.

For lunch box sets, machine selection centres on running several small and mid-size tools with matched shrinkage so every part fits. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for tiffin and lunch box production and can recommend machines for the full set of moulds.

Manufacturing Tiffin Boxes?

Share the parts in your lunch box set, materials and output, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest machines for each tool.

Machine Requirements for Tiffin and Lunch Box Moulding

A lunch box is a set, not a part, and buyers judge it on whether it leaks when dropped or turned over. Points to plan for:

  • Latch stiffness designed together with gasket compression
  • Lid and rim dimensions held steady across resin lots
  • Separate tools for body, inner boxes, lid and latch
  • Latch hinge filled without a weld line at the pin
  • Food-contact grades of PP, SAN or copolyester
  • Even shrinkage so lids from any cavity fit any body

Recommended Machine for Tiffin and Lunch Boxes

Latches, gaskets and small inner containers suit the E Series (75-180 T). Outer bodies, multi-compartment lids and two-cavity body tools need more clamping force and shot, so the C Series (140-320 T) covers them, and the H Series (120-350 T) suits larger sets. A full set is often split across two machine sizes.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

What lunch box makers ask when they plan a new set.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Tiffin and Lunch Boxes?
Usually more than one size. Latches, gaskets and small inner boxes run on the E Series, while outer bodies and multi-compartment lids need the C or H Series. Pratishna Engineers can plan machines across the whole set.
  • Are Steel Inner Containers Part of the Moulding Scope?
No. Stainless steel inner containers are fabricated, not moulded. Injection moulding covers the plastic outer body, lid, latch, gasket and any plastic inner boxes, so list which parts are plastic at enquiry stage.
  • How Is a Lunch Box Tested for Leaks?
Fill the box, close it, then drop and invert it and look for leaks at the lid. Latch stiffness and gasket compression work together, so a soft latch or an out-of-size gasket shows up here first.
  • Why Does a Latch Crack or Lose Its Snap?
Latches often fail at a weld line near the hinge pin, or from a grade too stiff for repeated flexing. Gate the latch so melt fills the hinge from one side, and test snap force after any material change.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Lunch Box?
Yes. Share drawings or samples of each part in the set, materials, part weights, mould dimensions, cavity counts and monthly output, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest suitable machines.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Kitchen Storage Parts Too?
Yes. The same series can mould kitchen containers, thermoware, casseroles and container caps and closures, subject to mould size and cavity count.
