Injection Moulding Machine for Storage Boxes with Lids
Plastic storage boxes and their lids are moulded in separate tools on horizontal injection moulding machines, using PP copolymer or HDPE. The box footprint and depth set clamping force and opening stroke. Box and lid have to shrink by the same amount, or the lid will not seal and the boxes will not stack.
For storage boxes, machine selection covers two tools: a deep box mould and a wide, flat lid mould. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for storage box production and can recommend a configuration for both moulds.

Machine Requirements for Storage Box Moulding
Storage boxes are sold on fit and stacking strength, so the machine and process have to hold these points:
- Daylight and opening stroke for a deep box body
- Clamping force for the full lid area
- Repeatable holding pressure so box and lid shrink alike
- Ribbed lids cooled evenly to resist warpage
- Impact copolymer PP that does not crack at corners
- Stacking lugs and clip features filled completely
Recommended Machine for Storage Boxes
Small and mid-size boxes and their lids often run on the C Series (140-320 T). Deeper boxes and wider lids move to the H Series (120-350 T), which gives more opening stroke and platen area. Large under-bed and wardrobe boxes may need higher clamping force, and those are reviewed on request with the mould details.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Questions storage box makers bring up when planning machines.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Storage Boxes?
Pratishna Engineers sizes the box and the lid separately. Smaller sets suit the C Series, deeper boxes and wide lids suit the H Series, and very large boxes are discussed on request. Why Does a Storage Box Lid Not Fit After Moulding?
The box and lid were usually moulded under different conditions or with different resin or masterbatch. Running both on one material, with steady holding pressure and mould temperature, keeps their shrinkage in step. How Do You Stop Long Lids from Warping?
Add ribs instead of thickening the lid, place gates so the lid fills evenly, and balance cooling across both mould halves. A thicker lid takes longer to cool and tends to warp more.
Why Do Storage Box Corners Crack in Cold Weather?
Homopolymer PP turns brittle at low temperature. Impact copolymer PP and generous corner radii handle drops and stacking loads better, which matters for boxes stored in cold rooms or shipped in winter. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Storage Box?
Yes. Share the box and lid drawings or samples, material, part weights, mould dimensions and heights, and monthly quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Household Storage Products Too?
Yes. The same class of machine can mould kitchen containers, tiffin boxes, fruit and vegetable baskets and cutlery tray and drawer organiser parts, subject to the mould.
