Injection Moulding Machine for Plastic Buckets

Plastic buckets are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, usually in single-cavity moulds, from PP copolymer, HDPE or recycled PP blends. Machine size follows the rim footprint, shot weight and the opening stroke needed to pull a deep body off the core. Even filling around the core matters most, since core shift leaves one wall thin.

For buckets, machine selection centres on clamping force for the rim footprint, shot capacity for the largest size and daylight to clear the full depth. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for bucket production and can recommend a configuration for your size range.

Manufacturing Plastic Buckets?

Share the bucket size, wall thickness, material and mould dimensions, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a suitable machine.

Machine Requirements for Plastic Bucket Moulding

Bucket moulds are deep and thin-walled, and they fill in a short time, so the machine has to match the tool on these points:

  • Clamping force sized to the rim footprint, not part weight
  • Opening stroke long enough to clear a deep bucket body
  • Fast injection to fill the thin wall before it freezes
  • Balanced core cooling to hold wall thickness all round
  • Clean shut-offs at handle lugs and bail holes
  • Steady melt from PP copolymer or recycled blends

Recommended Machine for Plastic Buckets

Smaller and mid-size household buckets suit the C Series (140-320 T). The H Series (120-350 T) takes deeper moulds that need a longer opening stroke and more shot capacity. Large pails and thin-wall IML buckets often need more clamping force than these series give, and those sizes are discussed on request once the mould is known.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions bucket makers ask before they choose a machine.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Plastic Buckets?
A horizontal machine with enough clamping force for the rim footprint and a long opening stroke. Pratishna Engineers offers the C and H Series for household sizes, and larger pail tools are reviewed case by case.
  • Why Does a Bucket Get Flash at the Rim or Handle Lugs?
Flash usually means the clamp is too small for the projected area, the parting line is worn, or injection pressure is set high to force thin walls full. A correctly sized machine and venting at the rim reduce it.
  • Can Recycled PP Be Used for Buckets?
Yes, for utility buckets. Recycled blends vary in melt flow from lot to lot, so injection speed and pressure may need resetting, and the handle area can crack if the blend is brittle. Virgin copolymer is often kept for food or paint use.
  • Are the Handle and Lid Moulded on the Same Machine?
They are separate tools. A plastic handle or lid can run on a smaller machine than the bucket, while steel bail handles are formed wire fitted after moulding. Planning all three tools together helps when choosing machine sizes.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Plastic Bucket?
Yes. Share the bucket drawing or sample, material, part weight, mould dimensions and height, handle and lid type, and monthly quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Household Products Too?
Yes. The same class of machine can mould plastic tubs, dustbins, storage boxes and fruit and vegetable baskets, depending on the size and depth of each mould.
