Injection Moulding Machine for Plastic Broom Bodies and Clamps

Plastic broom bodies, clamps and connectors are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from PP copolymer or HDPE, and the bristles are extruded monofilament tufted in later. Machine size follows body length and projected area. Even cooling along the body matters most, because warpage stops the broom sitting flat.

For broom bodies, machine selection centres on platen space for a long mould, enough shot for the full body and stable cooling. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for plastic broom production and can recommend a configuration from your body, clamp and mould design.

Share your broom body and clamp drawings, tuft hole layout and output target, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a machine.

Machine Requirements for Plastic Broom Moulding

A broom body carries the tufts and the handle, so hole quality and straightness decide whether it passes. Points to plan for:

  • Round, burr-free tuft holes that suit the tufting machine
  • Balanced cooling along the body to keep it flat
  • Long mould that fits between the tie-bars
  • Threaded or tapered socket matched to the handle connector
  • PP copolymer for impact strength at the clamp and socket
  • Stiffening ribs in place of thick sections that sink

Recommended Machine for Plastic Brooms

Broom bodies are long, narrow parts, so mould length and shot weight weigh as much as clamping force. Clamps, connectors and small bodies fit the E Series (75-180 T). Full-size bodies, two-cavity body moulds and family tools that include the clamp are better placed on the H Series (120-350 T), or on the C Series (140-320 T).

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Common questions from broom makers planning a moulding line.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Plastic Brooms?
Horizontal machines in the small to mid range. Clamp and connector moulds run on the E Series, while long body moulds, two-cavity tools and family moulds that include the clamp suit the C or H Series.
  • Are the Bristles Moulded With the Broom Body?
No. Bristles are PP, PET or PA monofilament made on a separate extrusion line, then tufted or stapled into the moulded body. Injection moulding covers the body, clamp and connector.
  • Why Does a Moulded Broom Body Not Sit Flat?
Uneven cooling along the length leaves the body bowed after ejection. Balanced cooling circuits on both mould halves, even wall sections and enough cooling time before ejection keep it straight.
  • What Makes Tuft Holes Fail on the Tufting Machine?
Holes that are oval, undersized or carry flash at the edge stop the tuft seating. Worn core pins, poor venting and low holding pressure are common causes, so check the pins at each mould service.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Plastic Broom?
Yes. Share the body and clamp drawings or samples, material, part weights, mould dimensions, cavity count and monthly output, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Floor Cleaning Products Too?
Yes. The same machines can mould dustpans, floor wiper heads, mop head frames and broom handle connectors, subject to mould size and cavity count.
