Injection Moulding Machine for Airtight Kitchen Containers

Airtight kitchen containers are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, with the body in PP, SAN or copolyester and a TPE gasket in the lid. Machine size follows body and lid footprints and the cavity count. The lid seal matters most, since body, lid and gasket tolerances stack up.

For storage containers, machine selection centres on repeatable shot size for sealing dimensions and clean moulding of clear bodies. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for kitchen container bodies and lids and can recommend a configuration for your container range.

Machine Requirements for Kitchen Container Moulding

In an airtight container the seal is the product, so lid, body and gasket are planned as one fit. Points to plan for:

  • Shot repeatability that holds lid and rim sealing dimensions
  • Gasket groove sized to the TPE gasket compression
  • Gate placement and cavity polish for clear SAN bodies
  • Drying for SAN and copolyester before moulding
  • Shared datum dimensions across a modular stacking range
  • Flat lids free of warpage at the seal line

Recommended Machine for Kitchen Containers

Small jars, lids and gaskets run on the E Series (75-180 T). Larger containers, multi-cavity lid moulds and tall bodies that need more opening stroke move to the C Series (140-320 T), while the largest bodies and high-cavity lid tools go on the H Series (120-350 T). Two-shot overmoulded gaskets need a machine built to that application.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Answers to what storage container makers ask about sealing, clarity and machine size.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Kitchen Containers?
Container size and cavity count set the series. Small jars and lids run on the E Series, larger bodies and multi-cavity lid tools on the C Series, and the largest bodies or high-cavity tools on the H Series.
  • How Is the Gasket Made for an Airtight Container?
The TPE gasket is either moulded separately and fitted into the lid groove, or overmoulded onto the lid in a two-shot process. A separate gasket runs on a standard machine, while a two-shot lid needs a machine built to application.
  • How Do I Prove a Container Is Airtight?
Leak-test moulded containers, not only the drawing, since lid, body and gasket tolerances stack up. Repeat the test after any change of resin lot, gasket hardness or mould repair that touches the seal line.
  • Why Do Clear Containers Show Flow Marks?
Clear SAN and copolyester show every flow line and gate blush. Gate position, cavity polish, drying and a steady injection speed profile decide how clean the body looks, so gate away from the main viewing face where possible.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Kitchen Container?
Yes. Share the container and lid drawings or samples, materials, gasket design, part weights, mould dimensions, cavity counts and monthly output, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Food Storage Products Too?
Yes. The same series can mould tiffin and lunch boxes, container caps and closures, plastic bowls and storage boxes, subject to the mould.
