Injection Moulding Machine for Floor Wipers

Floor wiper heads and swivel joints are made on horizontal injection moulding machines in PP, PA6 or glass-filled PA6, while the wiping blade is an extruded TPE or rubber strip fitted later. Head width, mould length and cavity count set the clamping force. Warpage is the main process risk, since a head that bows across its width leaves streaks.

Machine selection for floor wipers focuses on a long, flat head mould with even cooling, a steady shot for the joint and thread, and screw wear on glass-filled grades. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for wiper heads and joints and can recommend a configuration.

Machine Requirements for Floor Wiper Moulding

A floor wiper head is long and narrow, and the joint takes the wear in daily use. Points to check when selecting a machine:

  • Platen and tie-bar space for the full head length
  • Even mould cooling to keep the head flat
  • Blade groove held straight for an even wiping edge
  • Accurate swivel joint fit with no flash at pivots
  • Handle thread filled cleanly in every cavity
  • Wear-resistant screw and barrel for glass-filled PA6

Recommended Machine for Floor Wipers

Wiper joints, end caps and narrow household heads are light mouldings, and the E Series (75-180 T) suits these tools. Wide commercial heads, two-cavity head moulds or family tools that run head and joint together need more platen space and clamping force, where the C Series (140-320 T) or H Series (120-350 T) fits better.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions buyers ask before setting up floor wiper head and joint moulding.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Floor Wipers?
A horizontal machine sized to the head mould. Small joints and caps run on the E Series, while long heads and multi-cavity tools move to the C or H Series, depending on head length and the tonnage the mould needs.
  • Why Do Floor Wiper Heads Streak After Moulding?
Streaking usually comes from a head that has bowed across its width, so the blade does not meet the floor evenly. Balanced gating, matched core and cavity cooling and enough cooling time keep the head flat.
  • Can the Wiping Blade Be Overmoulded onto the Head?
Yes, but moulding a TPE blade onto a PP head is a two-material process that needs a machine built to application. The simpler route is an extruded blade strip pushed into a moulded groove, which runs on a standard machine.
  • Which Material Suits the Swivel Joint and Handle Thread?
PA6 or glass-filled PA6 holds the swivel fit and thread longer than PP under daily twisting. Nylon is hygroscopic, so it needs drying before moulding, and the screw should suit glass fibre.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Floor Wiper?
Yes. Share the head and joint drawings or samples, material, part weights, mould dimensions, cavities per tool and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Household Cleaning Parts Too?
Yes. Mop head frames, cleaning brush bodies, plastic broom bodies, dustpans and handle connectors can run on the same class of machine, subject to the specific mould.
