Injection Moulding Machine for Dustpans
Dustpans are moulded in PP copolymer or HDPE on horizontal injection moulding machines, usually one or two per mould. Machine size follows the pan footprint and, on long-handle types, the mould length. Filling the thin front lip matters most, since a warped or short lip will not sweep cleanly.
For dustpans, machine selection centres on injection pressure and speed to fill a thin lip at the end of a long flow, with steady cooling. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for dustpan production and can recommend a configuration from your pan design and mould.

Machine Requirements for Dustpan Moulding
A dustpan is judged at the front lip, which has to fill fully and lie flat against the floor. Points to plan for:
- Injection pressure and speed to fill a thin front lip
- Gate placed to shorten the flow path into the lip
- Flat lip held by balanced cooling across the pan
- Folding hinge or pivot flexed straight after ejection
- Mould length to suit long-handle dustpan designs
- PP copolymer that resists cracking when dropped
Recommended Machine for Dustpans
Hand dustpans are mid-size flat parts, often moulded one or two per shot, and fit the E Series (75-180 T). Long-handle and folding dustpans need a longer mould and a bigger shot, so they sit on the C Series (140-320 T), with the H Series (120-350 T) taking larger two-cavity tools.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Answers to the questions dustpan makers raise most.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Dustpans?
Horizontal machines matched to pan size. Hand dustpans often run on the E Series, while long-handle, folding and two-cavity dustpan moulds move to the C or H Series. Why Does the Front Lip Warp or Fill Short?
The lip is thin and sits at the far end of a long flow. Low injection speed or pressure leaves it short, and uneven cooling leaves it curled. Gate position, venting at the lip and balanced cooling fix most cases. How Is the Hinge on a Folding Dustpan Moulded?
Folding and long-handle dustpans use a living hinge or a moulded pivot. A PP living hinge should fill across in one direction and be flexed straight after ejection, while still warm, so it does not crack later.
How Many Dustpans Can One Mould Make Per Shot?
Hand dustpans can run one or two per shot, depending on footprint and clamping force. Long-handle and folding types are often single cavity. A second cavity doubles projected area, so machine size rises with it.Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Dustpan?
Yes. Share the dustpan drawing or sample, type, material, part weight, mould dimensions, cavity count and monthly output, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a suitable machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Household Cleaning Products Too?
Yes. The same machines can mould plastic broom bodies, floor wiper heads, cleaning brush bodies and toilet brush holder sets, subject to the mould.
