Injection Moulding Machine for Plastic Tumblers
Plastic tumblers are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, usually in multi-cavity hot runner moulds, from PP, SAN, copolyester or PS. Machine size depends on cavity count, shot weight and the opening stroke needed to clear a deep tumbler core. For clear grades, resin drying matters most, since moisture shows as splay through the wall.
Machine selection for tumblers centres on steady shot control for even walls, enough opening stroke for tall parts and good cooling on the core. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for tumbler production and can recommend a configuration for your tumbler, mould and output.

Machine Requirements for Plastic Tumbler Moulding
A tumbler is a deep, thin-walled part where wall evenness and rim shape decide whether it stacks and fits its lid. Points to check:
- Opening stroke and daylight to eject a tall tumbler
- Resin drying for SAN and copolyester before moulding
- Even wall thickness, with no core shift or thin spots
- Nesting draft and rim concentricity for stacking and lid fit
- Gloss and flow line control on clear walls
- Decoration by IML, print or heat transfer, fixed at tooling
Recommended Machine for Plastic Tumblers
Small and medium tumblers in low to moderate cavity counts can run on the E Series (75-180 T). Taller tumblers, heavier reusable designs and multi-cavity hot runner moulds need more clamping force and a longer opening stroke, which points to the C Series (140-320 T) or H Series (120-350 T).

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Questions tumbler makers ask most often before choosing a machine.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Plastic Tumblers?
A horizontal machine is used, with the series chosen by tumbler size and cavities. Single-use PP tumblers in compact moulds often fit the E Series, while tall reusable tumblers in multi-cavity tools usually move to the C or H Series.Should a Reusable Tumbler Be Moulded in SAN, Copolyester or PS?
Reusable tumblers need clarity and drop resistance, so SAN and copolyester are preferred. PS is clear but cracks more easily when dropped. Single-use tumblers are usually moulded in PP, which gives up some clarity for toughness and lower material cost. Why Do Clear Tumblers Show Silver Streaks?
Silver streaks, or splay, usually come from moisture in the resin. SAN and copolyester should go through a dryer before moulding, following the resin supplier guidance. Long residence time in the barrel can also degrade the melt and leave similar marks.
How Is a Tall Tumbler Released from a Deep Core?
A tumbler grips the core as it shrinks, so moulds often use a stripper ring at the rim with air blown through the core to break the vacuum. The machine needs enough ejector stroke and opening stroke to clear the full tumbler height. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Plastic Tumbler?
Yes. Share the tumbler drawing or sample, material, part weight, mould size, cavity count, decoration method and required output, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.Does the Machine Suit Other FMCG Packaging Parts Too?
Yes. Machines of this class can also mould disposable cups, thin-wall containers, tub lids and ice cream containers, depending on each mould and its cycle needs.
