Injection Moulding Machine for Small Appliance Housings

Small appliance housings for kettles, irons, toasters and blenders are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from PP, ABS, PC/ABS and heat-resistant PBT or glass-filled nylon. Projected area, mould height for deep shells and shot weight decide machine size. Grade choice by heat zone matters most, because parts near the element need far higher heat resistance.

Machine selection for these shells focuses on enough mould height and opening stroke for deep bodies and a screw that handles both commodity and glass-filled grades. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for small appliance housings and can recommend a configuration for your part family.

Machine Requirements for Small Appliance Housing Moulding

An appliance housing sits close to heat, water and mains wiring, so the machine has to suit several grades and mould sizes:

  • Heat-resistant PBT or PA6-GF for parts near elements
  • Wear-resistant screw and barrel for glass-filled grades
  • Mould height and stroke for deep kettle and blender shells
  • Glossy outer faces free of flow lines and gate marks
  • Flame-retardant grades for mains-powered housings
  • Flat sealing faces on steam paths and cordless bases

Recommended Machine for Small Appliance Housings

Iron shells, toaster end panels and blender bases are mid-sized parts that suit the E Series (75-180 T). Kettle bodies and deeper blender housings need more mould height and clamping force, which the C Series (140-320 T) and H Series (120-350 T) provide. Larger housings or multi-cavity tools beyond this range are discussed on request.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

What appliance makers ask us most before choosing a housing machine.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Small Appliance Housings?
Machine size follows the shell footprint and depth. Iron and toaster parts often fit the E Series, while kettle and blender bodies with deeper cores move to the C or H Series for stroke and tonnage.
  • Which Grade Should Be Used Near the Heating Element?
Parts near the element, such as kettle bases, iron rear covers and toaster end panels, need high heat-deflection grades like PBT or glass-filled PA6. Outer shells away from heat can use PP, ABS or PC/ABS.
  • Do Kettle Housings Need Food-Contact Material?
Any part that touches water or food, such as a kettle body or lid, needs a food-contact grade. Keep the material and masterbatch documented, and purge the barrel fully after running a non-food grade.
  • Why Do Glass-Filled Housings Warp and Show Fibres on the Surface?
Fibres line up with the flow and shrink less along it than across it, so flat panels bow. Balanced gating and even wall thickness reduce the bow, and a higher mould temperature keeps fibres below the surface.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Appliance Housing?
Yes. Share the housing drawing or sample, the grade for each part, part weights, mould dimensions including height, cavity count and annual volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other White Goods Parts Too?
Yes. A machine in this range can also mould mixer grinder bodies, appliance fan housings, refrigerator drawers and door handles, subject to the mould size.
