Injection Moulding Machine for Door Handles, Hinge Covers and Exterior Trim

Appliance door handles, hinge covers and exterior trim are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from ABS, PC/ABS, glass-filled PA6 and PP, often with metal inserts. Handle length, projected area and insert loading decide machine size. Void-free packing of the load-bearing bosses matters most, because handles fail by fatigue there.

Selection for these exterior parts centres on platen length for long handles, steady insert loading and process control that holds gloss to the panel colour. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for appliance handle and trim production and can recommend a configuration for your tools.

Machine Requirements for Door Handle, Hinge Cover and Trim Moulding

Handles take daily pull loads and sit next to painted or printed panels, so strength and appearance both count:

  • Void-free packing of bosses carrying the pull load
  • Insert moulding for threaded bosses and metal stiffeners
  • Wear-resistant screw for glass-filled PA6 handle cores
  • Gloss and colour matched to the door panel
  • Platen length for long refrigerator door handles
  • Weld lines kept away from screw bosses

Recommended Machine for Door Handles, Hinge Covers and Exterior Trim

Hinge covers and short trim pieces are small and suit the E Series (75-180 T), often in family tools. Long refrigerator and oven door handles need a longer mould and more tonnage across their projected area, which places them on the H Series (120-350 T) or C Series (140-320 T).

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Typical buyer questions on appliance handles and exterior trim.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Appliance Door Handles?
Handle length sets the mould size. Hinge covers and short trims fit the E Series, while full-length refrigerator handles with inserts usually go to the C or H Series for platen space and clamping force.
  • Why Do Appliance Door Handles Crack at the Mounting Boss?
A handle is pulled several times a day for years, so cracks start at voids, weld lines or sharp corners around the boss. Pack the boss fully, keep weld lines away from it and add generous radii, or use a metal stiffener.
  • How Are Metal Inserts Moulded Into Handles?
Threaded bushes and stiffeners are placed in the open mould by hand or robot, then the plastic is shot around them. Insert seats must hold them firmly, and preheating larger inserts reduces stress in the surrounding plastic.
  • How Do You Match Handle Colour to the Door Panel?
The handle may be PC/ABS while the panel is painted steel or a different plastic, so colour and gloss are matched through masterbatch, mould texture and mould temperature. Approve against a panel sample under the same light.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Door Handle or Trim?
Yes. Share drawings or samples, the grade, part weights, mould dimensions, insert type and loading method, cavity counts and volume per model, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Appliance Exterior Parts Too?
Yes. Machines of this size also run bezels and control knobs, refrigerator drawers, kettle and iron shells and blower housings, subject to the mould.
