Injection Moulding Machine for AC Grilles

AC grilles, including front panels, discharge grilles and return grilles, are moulded on horizontal injection moulding machines from ABS, HIPS, PP or PC/ABS. Grille footprint sets the tonnage even though the part is light. Venting and gating matter most, because the melt knits around every slot and weld lines decide strength.

Machine selection for a grille focuses on platen area for a wide, flat mould, clamping force for the full footprint and flatness after ejection. For AC grilles, Pratishna Engineers can recommend a horizontal or two-platen injection moulding machine and a configuration to suit the mould.

Machine Requirements for AC Grille Moulding

A grille is a large, light, perforated part with a visible face that must sit flat on the indoor unit. Selection depends on:

  • Clamping force for the full grille footprint
  • Platen area and tie-bar spacing for wide moulds
  • Venting at every slot to strengthen weld lines
  • Class A face without flow marks or gate blush
  • Flame-rated grade for indoor unit panels
  • Flatness after ejection to avoid rattle and gaps

Recommended Machine for AC Grilles

Smaller discharge and return grilles fit the H Series (120-350 T) or C Series (140-320 T). Wide front panels with deeper frames suit the Two-Platen PHM Series (160-350 T), which gives more mould space. Large frames needing force above these ranges are discussed on request after a review of the mould.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions grille buyers bring to our engineers before tooling.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make AC Grilles?
The H, C or PHM Series, chosen by grille footprint and mould size rather than part weight. Smaller grilles sit in the mid tonnage range, while wide front panels may need the upper end or a larger press.
  • Why Are Weld Lines a Problem on AC Grilles?
Melt splits around each slot and rejoins behind it, so a grille carries many weld lines. Poor venting traps air at those joins, leaving weak, visible lines that can crack when the grille is clipped on.
  • Does an AC Grille Need a Flame-rated Grade?
Indoor unit panels are often specified in a flame-rated ABS or PC/ABS. These grades need careful drying and melt temperature control, since overheating can cause burn marks and colour shift on a white face.
  • How Is Grille Flatness Controlled?
Balanced gating, even mould temperature on both halves and enough cooling time before ejection keep the grille flat. Ejector pins spread across the frame stop the part bending as it leaves the mould.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My AC Grille?
Share the grille drawing or sample, material and flame rating, part weight, mould dimensions and production volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Air Conditioner Panel Parts Too?
Yes. These machines can also produce AC louvres, blower scrolls and fan housings, door handles and exterior trim, and appliance bezels, depending on the mould.
