Injection Moulding Machine for Storage Tank Fittings and Bladder Tank Ports
Storage tank fittings and bladder tank ports are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from PP, glass-filled PP and glass-filled PA6. Flange diameter, thread form and the unscrewing or core-pull action in the mould set the tonnage and platen size. A strong, true thread next to a flat, sink-free sealing face is the main process target.
Machine selection here focuses on mould space for unscrewing units, wear protection for glass-filled resin and steady holding pressure on thick thread sections. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for tank fittings and can recommend a model per tool.

Machine Requirements for Storage Tank Fitting Moulding
On a pressurised tank the thread and sealing face carry the whole joint, and stored water stays in contact for years. Check for:
- Unscrewing or collapsible cores for internal port threads
- Flat sealing faces with no sink behind thick bosses
- Wear-resistant screw for glass-filled PP and PA6
- Thread crests free of parting line flash
- Hydrolysis-resistant potable grades for long water contact
- Drying for PA6-GF and conditioning before thread gauging
Recommended Machine for Storage Tank Fittings
Small bulkhead nuts and adaptors fit E Series (75-180 T) machines in multi-cavity tools. Ports with large flanges, or moulds carrying unscrewing gear trains and hydraulic cores, need more platen space and clamping force, so H Series (120-350 T) machines, or C Series (140-320 T) where the mould allows, are chosen for them.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Answers to the questions tank and fitting makers bring to us.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Storage Tank Fittings?
Fitting size and the thread-forming action decide it. E Series machines cover smaller adaptors and nuts, while flanged ports and unscrewing moulds often need a C or H Series machine for space and tonnage. How Are the Threads on Tank Ports Moulded?
External threads can be split on the parting line or formed by slides. Internal threads need an unscrewing or collapsible core, driven by a motor or hydraulic core-pull circuit on the machine. Why Does the Thread Fit Change on Nylon Ports?
PA6 absorbs moisture after moulding and grows slightly, so thread fit drifts. Condition parts before gauging and size the mould for the conditioned state. Dry the resin before moulding to avoid splay and brittle threads.
Which Grade Suits Permanent Contact With Stored Water?
A potable-approved PP or PP-GF suits wetted fittings because PP resists hydrolysis. PA6-GF gives stiffness for threaded ports, but it should be a hydrolysis-stabilised grade cleared for drinking water contact. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Storage Tank Fitting?
Yes. Share the fitting drawings, thread type, materials, part weights, mould size, core actions, cavity count and monthly quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Tank and Pipe Fittings Too?
Yes. Similar machines mould pressure vessel end caps, saddle straps, fluid connectors and RO housings, provided the mould fits the platen and its core actions are supported.
