Injection Moulding Machine for Pressure Vessel End Caps, Riser Adaptors and Baskets
Pressure vessel end caps, riser adaptors and baskets are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from glass-filled PP, PPO and ABS. Machine size follows the dome diameter and depth of the end cap, the opening stroke and shot weight. Most attention goes to a round, even-walled weld land that joins the cap to the extruded tank tube.
Selection for these parts weighs deep mould opening for end caps, wear protection for glass-filled grades and slot accuracy on baskets. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for vessel internals and can match a model to each of your tools.
Moulding Pressure Vessel End Caps?
Send your tank diameter range, part drawings and materials, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest machines for the end cap, adaptor and basket tools.
Machine Requirements for Pressure Vessel End Cap and Basket Moulding
All service and backwash flow passes through the riser and baskets, while the end cap takes vessel pressure at its weld. Points to check:
- Opening stroke and mould height for deep dome end caps
- Round, even weld land matching the extruded tank tube
- Wear-resistant screw and barrel for glass-filled grades
- Consistent slot width on baskets so media stays in
- Riser adaptor bores held to size for the riser pipe
- Void-free thick sections for burst strength
Recommended Machine for Pressure Vessel End Caps and Baskets
Riser adaptors and small baskets are mid-sized mouldings that fit the E Series (75-180 T). End caps for larger tanks have a wider projected area and a deep core, so they need the opening stroke and clamping force of a C Series (140-320 T) machine, and the largest domes an H Series (120-350 T). Tank sizes in your range decide the split between machines.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Common questions from softener and filter vessel makers planning these mouldings.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Pressure Vessel End Caps and Baskets?
Smaller baskets and riser adaptors usually run on E Series machines. End caps grow with tank diameter, and the larger domes move to C or H Series machines for projected area and stroke. Why Are End Caps Moulded When the Tank Is Not?
The sidewall is an extruded tube, which cannot form a closed end. Moulded end caps are welded to each end to make the liner, which is then reinforced with glass fibre and resin to make the FRP vessel. How Do Basket Slots Stay Accurate in Production?
Thin steel blades in the mould form the slots. Worn shut-offs flash the slots, and poor venting or slow injection gives short shots, so blade condition, venting and first-off slot checks need attention.
Do Glass-Filled Grades Need a Special Screw?
Glass fibre wears a standard screw, check ring and barrel faster, so a wear-resistant or bimetallic set is advised for PP-GF. Fibre orientation also warps large domes, which gate position and cooling help control. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Pressure Vessel End Cap?
Yes. Share the tank diameters, end cap, adaptor and basket drawings, materials, part weights, mould sizes and monthly volumes, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend suitable machines.Does the Machine Suit Other Vessel and Tank Parts Too?
Yes. Similar tonnage covers distributor hubs, softener control valve parts, storage tank fittings and filter housings, once each mould is checked against platen size and stroke.
