Injection Moulding Machine for Warp Beam Flanges and Sample Beam Parts

Warp beam flanges, discs and sample beam parts are produced on horizontal injection moulding machines in PA6-GF, PP-GF or ABS. Flange diameter sets projected area, tie-bar spacing and clamping force. Flatness and run-out decide how the warp builds, so gate position and glass fibre orientation are set to stop the disc dishing.

For beam flanges, machine selection focuses on platen space for wide discs, high injection pressure for filled grades and steady holding pressure for a flat, true part. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for beam flange production and can recommend a configuration.

Machine Requirements for Warp Beam Flange Moulding

A beam flange is a precision disc rather than a cover, so the process has to hold:

  • Flat flange faces without dishing after ejection
  • Low run-out between flange face and hub bore
  • Gate position that controls glass fibre orientation
  • Even cooling on both faces of the disc
  • Conditioned nylon flanges before dimensional checks
  • Platen and tie-bar space for the flange diameter

Recommended Machine for Warp Beam Flanges

Sample beam parts, hubs and small discs can run on the E Series (75-180 T). Wider glass-filled flanges need more clamping force and mould space, which points to the C Series (140-320 T), while the largest discs in this range suit the H Series (120-350 T). Fit the mould inside the tie-bars before settling the tonnage.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions beam makers and weaving preparation units ask about flange moulding.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Warp Beam Flanges?
Flange diameter decides it. Sample beam parts and small discs fit the E Series, and wider glass-filled flanges need the mould space and tonnage of the C or H Series.
  • Why Do Glass-Filled Flanges Dish or Warp?
Glass fibre shrinks differently along and across the flow, so a disc filled from one side bows. Centre gating, radial ribs and even cooling on both mould halves give balanced shrinkage and a flat flange.
  • Why Must Nylon Flanges Be Conditioned Before Gauging?
PA6 absorbs moisture after moulding and grows slightly. A dry flange measured straight off the machine can read out of tolerance, so flanges are conditioned before flatness and bore checks.
  • Are Large Production Warp Beam Flanges Moulded?
Large flanges for production warping beams are usually metal. Moulded flanges suit sample warping beams, smaller beams and discs where glass-filled plastic gives enough stiffness.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Warp Beam Flange?
Yes. Share the flange drawing or sample, material, part weight, flange diameter, mould dimensions and monthly quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Weaving and Warping Parts Too?
Yes. Similar machines produce spools, perforated dye tubes, sliver can rings and package trays, depending on the mould.
