Injection Moulding Machine for Spinning and TFO Bobbins
Bobbins for ring frames, roving, simplex and TFO machines come off horizontal injection moulding machines, moulded in PP copolymer, PP-GF or ABS. Bobbin length decides mould height and opening stroke, and cavity count sets shot weight and clamping force. Spinning bobbins run at high spindle speed, so concentric, uniform walls that keep the bobbin balanced are the main process target.
For bobbins, machine selection focuses on stroke for long slender cores, steady injection that fills the wall evenly from nose to base, and repeatable cycles. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for bobbin production and can recommend a configuration for your bobbin and frame.
Moulding Spinning Bobbins?
Share the frame model the bobbin runs on, the drawing or sample and volume, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a machine.
Machine Requirements for Bobbin Moulding
Spinning mills reject a bobbin that wobbles, will not doff or collects fly, so moulding has to control:
- Even wall along a long, slender core
- Concentric bore so the bobbin runs balanced on the spindle
- Base and nose geometry that suits auto-doffing
- Antistatic grade or additive to stop fly building up
- Clean yarn surface without flash or gate marks
- Opening stroke for roving and simplex bobbin lengths
Recommended Machine for Bobbins
Ring frame and TFO bobbins are light enough for multi-cavity moulds on the E Series (75-180 T), within its stroke. Long roving and simplex bobbins, or more cavities, need more daylight and clamping force, so the C Series (140-320 T) and H Series (120-350 T) take those tools. Mould length usually decides the frame before tonnage does.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
What spinning mills and bobbin makers ask first when planning a bobbin moulding line.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Bobbins?
Horizontal machines sized by bobbin length and cavity count. Ring frame and TFO bobbins often fit the E Series, while long roving and simplex bobbins usually need the extra stroke of the C or H Series. Why Do Some Bobbins Vibrate on the Spindle?
An eccentric bore or a wall that is thicker on one side puts the bobbin out of balance. The cause is often a core that deflects during filling, so balanced gating at the nose and a supported core are checked first. Can Bobbins Be Moulded Antistatic?
An antistatic additive can be added to the PP, often through masterbatch, so the bobbin does not attract fly. Dosing has to stay constant, because too little gives no effect and too much can affect surface finish.
Does the Frame Model Change the Mould?
It does. Bobbins are made to suit a particular spinning frame, so length, bore, nose and base all follow that frame. A mill running several frame types usually needs a separate mould for each bobbin. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Bobbin?
Yes. Share the frame model, bobbin drawing or sample, material, part weight, number of cavities, mould dimensions and monthly quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a suitable machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Spinning and Winding Parts Too?
Yes. The same machines can mould textile cones, spools, cone holders and creel pegs, depending on the mould size and stroke.
