Injection Moulding Machine for Pen Stands

Pen stands are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, often in family moulds with matching desk organiser parts, from PS, SAN, ABS or PP. Machine size follows the projected area of the stand and its partner parts, and a shot large enough for the heavy base. The base matters most: solid sections sink, so it is cored out.

For a pen stand, machine selection focuses on a shot that fills the base, steady holding pressure against sink and clean filling on clear grades. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for pen stand production and can recommend a configuration from your stand design, mould and output.

Machine Requirements for Pen Stand Moulding

Pen stands are cosmetic parts with a heavy base, so the machine has to fill and pack them cleanly. Points to check before choosing one:

  • Shot weight sized for the thick base section
  • Steady holding pressure to control sink on the base
  • Gate placement that keeps weld lines off clear faces
  • Polished mould surfaces for crystal PS and SAN
  • Matched shrinkage across stand and organiser family parts
  • Pocket or insert seat for an optional weight

Recommended Machine for Pen Stands

A single pen stand is a small to medium moulding, and the E Series (75-180 T) suits many stand moulds. Family moulds that carry the stand with trays and organiser parts raise the projected area and shot weight, which can move the job to the C Series (140-320 T) or H Series (120-350 T).

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions buyers ask most when they plan pen stand production.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Pen Stands?
Most single-stand moulds run on the E Series. Larger stands, multi-compartment organisers or family tools with trays may need the C or H Series, depending on total projected area and the shot the base needs.
  • How Is Sink Avoided on a Thick Pen Stand Base?
The base is cored out to an even wall instead of being left solid, with ribs where stiffness is needed. Gate position and holding pressure are then set so the thicker areas pack before the gate freezes.
  • Can Clear or Tinted Pen Stands Be Moulded?
Yes. Crystal PS and SAN give a clear or tinted stand, but they show every flow mark and weld line. A polished mould, careful gate placement and dried SAN keep the visible faces clean.
  • How Is a Weighted Pen Stand Made?
The base gets a pocket for a metal or filled weight fitted after moulding, or a seat for an insert placed in the mould. Heft then comes from the weight, not from thick plastic that would sink.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Pen Stand?
Yes. Share the stand drawing or sample, material, part weight, mould size, the other parts in the family and your monthly quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Stationery Parts Too?
Yes. Machines in this size band can also run punch and tape dispenser housings, geometry instruments, plastic rulers and clipboard fittings, subject to the mould.
