Injection Moulding Machine for Knee and Elbow Guard Shells and Strap Hardware
Knee and elbow guard shells and their strap hardware are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, with PP or PE caps, POM buckles and two-shot TPE hinges on articulated designs. Cap size and the number of plates per guard set the tonnage. Hinge bond matters most, since articulated guards flex at the soft joint with every bend.
For guard makers, machine choice turns on whether hinged plates are two-shot or assembled, and on how many small hardware parts run alongside. Pratishna Engineers can build a special purpose machine to application for articulated guards, supplies horizontal machines for caps and buckles, and can recommend a configuration.

Machine Requirements for Knee and Elbow Guard Moulding
A knee or elbow guard combines a curved cap, linked plates and several small fittings. The moulding setup should handle:
- TPE hinge grade that bonds to PP plates
- Hinge cross-section moulded evenly for long flex life
- Cooling layout that keeps curved caps true to shape
- Strap slots formed by shut-offs or side actions
- POM shrinkage control on buckle and adjuster teeth
- Family or separate tools for plates and hardware
Recommended Machine for Knee and Elbow Guards
Articulated guards with two-shot TPE hinges call for a special purpose machine built to application. Single caps, separate plates and POM strap hardware are small to medium parts for the E Series (75-180 T). Larger adult caps or family tools holding several plates may need more clamp, which points to H Series (120-350 T) machines, or to C Series (140-320 T) models for some tools.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Questions guard makers ask about moulding caps, plates and fittings.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Knee and Elbow Guards?
Articulated guards with moulded soft hinges need a special purpose machine. Plain caps, plates and buckles run on the E Series, and larger caps or multi-plate family tools can move to the H or C Series. Is the Foam Inside a Knee Guard Moulded on the Same Machine?
No. The foam is moulded foam or die-cut sheet, bought in and assembled. Only the hard cap, plates, hinges and strap hardware are injection moulded, and the finished guard is impact tested. Can Plates and Hinges Be Made Without a Two-shot Machine?
Yes. Plates can be moulded separately and joined with riveted or stitched straps, or placed in a second mould for the TPE hinge. Two-shot saves handling and gives a more consistent bond.
Which Material Suits Guard Buckles and Strap Adjusters?
POM is common for buckles and adjusters because it holds teeth and snap shapes and slides well. Control mould temperature and holding pressure, since POM shrinkage varies with wall thickness. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Knee or Elbow Guard?
Yes. Share drawings or samples of the cap, plates and hardware, materials, part weights, mould sizes, cavity counts and volumes, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Sports Protection Parts Too?
Yes, depending on the mould. Shin guard shells, protective padding carriers, helmet retention hardware and boot or binding buckles can run on similar machines.
