Injection Moulding Machine for Gym Weight Plate Rims, Guards and Collars
Gym weight plate rims, guards and collars are made on horizontal injection moulding machines in impact-modified PP copolymer, HDPE, PA6-GF or TPE. Rim diameter and wall section set the tonnage, and thick sections make cooling the longest part of the cycle. Drop impact matters most, so generous radii at every corner and a tough copolymer grade come first.
Selection for plate parts focuses on clamp for large round rims, shot capacity for thick walls and holding pressure that keeps voids out. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for weight plate rims, guards and collars and can recommend a configuration.

Machine Requirements for Weight Plate Rim and Collar Moulding
Weight plate parts are dropped again and again, and many have thick walls. The machine and mould should allow:
- Shot capacity for thick rim and hub sections
- Long holding pressure to limit voids and sink
- Mould cooling sized for thick, slow-cooling walls
- Impact-modified PP copolymer rather than homopolymer
- Generous radii with no sharp corners to start cracks
- Weld lines kept away from the hub bore
Recommended Machine for Weight Plate Rims and Collars
Collars and hub sleeves are smaller parts for the E Series (75-180 T). Plate rims and guards have larger round projected areas and thick walls. For these, the C Series (140-320 T) is the usual choice, and the H Series (120-350 T) takes larger rims and deeper moulds.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Questions weight plate and gym accessory makers ask most.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Weight Plate Rims and Collars?
Collars and hub sleeves are small enough for the E Series. Rims and guards, with their wide round footprint and heavy walls, generally move to the C Series, and larger rims to the H Series. Why Use PP Copolymer Instead of Homopolymer for Plate Rims?
Rims and collars are dropped on hard floors repeatedly. Impact-modified PP copolymer absorbs those knocks far better than homopolymer, which can crack at corners, especially in cold storage or with sharp radii. How Do You Avoid Voids in Thick Plate Rims?
Thick sections shrink inside after the skin freezes. Gate into the thickest section, hold pressure long enough, cool evenly and core out heavy areas where the design allows, so voids and sink stay out.
Are Rubber-coated Weight Plates Injection Moulded?
No. The rubber coating is a separate rubber moulding process. Only the plastic hub, collar and rim inserts used in those plates are injection moulded. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Weight Plate Parts?
Yes. Share the rim, guard and collar drawings or samples, material, part weights, mould sizes, cavity counts and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Gym Equipment Parts Too?
Yes, subject to the mould. Fitness equipment guards and pulleys, end caps, shin guard shells and helmet vent hardware can run on similar machines, with smaller parts on lower tonnage.
