Injection Moulding Machine for UPVC and PP Ball Valves

UPVC and PP ball valves are moulded on horizontal injection moulding machines, using a separate tool each for the body, end connectors, ball and handle. Each part is sized on its own projected area and cavities, so the body needs the largest machine. Ball roundness and seat finish decide leak-test yield.

For a ball valve line, the plan covers a machine for each tool and a PVC-suited barrel wherever UPVC or CPVC runs. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for ball valve components and can recommend a setup for your full valve set.

Machine Requirements for UPVC and PP Ball Valve Moulding

A ball valve passes or fails on its leak test, and that depends on how each separate part is moulded. Requirements include:

  • PVC-suited screw and barrel for UPVC and CPVC bodies
  • Precise holding pressure to control ball shrinkage and roundness
  • Polished mould surfaces for a smooth ball and seat face
  • Unscrewing cores or slides for threaded valve ends
  • Separate smaller machine for balls, handles and connectors
  • Masterbatch dosing for coloured ABS or PP handles

Recommended Machine for UPVC and PP Ball Valves

Valve bodies in UPVC or CPVC usually call for the C Series (140-320 T), or the H Series (120-350 T) for larger sizes and multi-cavity body moulds. Balls, handles and end connectors are smaller parts that suit the E Series (75-180 T), and small valve sizes can run their bodies there too.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions valve makers ask when planning moulding for a ball valve range.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Plastic Ball Valves?
Usually two sizes of horizontal machine. A C or H Series machine moulds the bodies, and an E Series machine runs balls, handles and connectors. Smaller valves may run every part on the E Series.
  • Why Do Ball Valves Fail the Leak Test?
Common causes are an out-of-round ball, a rough or flashed seat face, and sink near the seat. Uneven cooling and short holding time make the ball shrink unevenly.
  • Which Materials Are Used for Ball Valve Parts?
Bodies and balls are often UPVC for cold water, CPVC for hot water lines and PP for chemical and irrigation use. Handles are commonly ABS or PP. UPVC and CPVC need a PVC-suited screw and barrel.
  • How Is Ball Sphericity Controlled?
Equal mould temperature on both halves, a steady holding pressure profile and repeatable shot size keep shrinkage even, so the ball stays round. Check roundness after the part has cooled fully, not straight off the mould.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Ball Valve?
Yes. Share drawings or samples of the body, ball, handle and connectors, valve sizes, materials, part weights, mould sizes, cavities and output, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend machines.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Valve and Fitting Parts Too?
Yes. The same machines can mould angle cocks, threaded pipe fittings, cistern float valve parts and water tank fittings, subject to the mould and material.
