Injection Moulding Machine for UPVC and CPVC Threaded Pipe Fittings
UPVC and CPVC threaded pipe fittings such as elbows, tees and couplers are made on horizontal injection moulding machines with a PVC-suited screw and barrel. Clamp size follows the projected area, cavities and the higher cavity pressure PVC needs. Temperature control matters most, as a stall or overheated barrel releases HCl and attacks the screw.
With rigid PVC, machine selection is about barrel protection, accurate zone heating and long holding pressure for thick threaded ends. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for threaded UPVC and CPVC fittings and can recommend a configuration once the mould is known.

Machine Requirements for UPVC and CPVC Threaded Fitting Moulding
Rigid PVC is less forgiving than PP or PE, both in the barrel and in the mould. Requirements for threaded fitting work include:
- Nitrided or bimetallic barrel and screw that resist PVC corrosion
- Low-compression screw that avoids shear heating of the melt
- Independent barrel zone heating and cooling for a narrow window
- Higher clamping force per area than PP or PE fittings
- Long holding pressure for thick threaded ends and sockets
- Unscrewing cores or slides for male and female threads
Recommended Machine for UPVC and CPVC Threaded Pipe Fittings
Small elbows, tees and couplers in multi-cavity moulds can run on the E Series (75-180 T). Larger threaded sizes, or moulds carrying more cavities with unscrewing gear, move up to a C Series (140-320 T) machine, or to the H Series (120-350 T) for the heaviest tools. Because PVC fittings are cooling-limited, plan cavities against cycle as well as tonnage.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Questions plumbing fitting manufacturers ask about moulding rigid PVC threaded fittings.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make UPVC and CPVC Threaded Fittings?
A horizontal machine set up for PVC. The E Series suits smaller threaded fittings, while bigger sizes and higher-cavity moulds go to the C or H Series, always with a screw, barrel and heating suited to rigid PVC.Why Does PVC Need a Special Screw and Barrel?
Rigid PVC breaks down if overheated or held too long, giving off HCl that corrodes steel. A low-compression screw, corrosion-resistant barrel and well-controlled heating zones keep the melt stable and protect the machine. What Is Different About Moulding CPVC?
CPVC runs hotter than UPVC, with an even narrower window between flow and degradation. It needs careful screw speed, back pressure and purging, and hot water fittings must hold their thread form without warpage.
Why Is the Cycle Long on PVC Fittings?
Thick threaded ends need long holding pressure and cooling before ejection, or they shrink and lose thread form. Cooling time, more than injection, usually sets the cycle, so mould cooling design matters as much as machine size. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My UPVC or CPVC Fitting?
Yes. Share the fitting drawing or sample, sizes, compound, part weight, mould dimensions, cavities and output target, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.Does the Machine Suit Other PVC Plumbing Parts Too?
Yes. With the same PVC-suited setup, it can mould SWR drainage fittings, ball valve bodies, waste couplings and conduit fittings, subject to the mould.
