Injection Moulding Machine for Trackside and Signalling Enclosure Components

Trackside and signalling enclosure components, including housings, lids and covers, are moulded on horizontal injection moulding machines from UV-stabilised FR PC, PC/ASA, glass-filled PA6 or glass-filled PBT. Enclosure footprint, depth and mould height set the machine. Flatness of the sealing face matters most, because it decides whether the enclosure holds its IP rating.

Enclosures stand outdoors and unattended for many years, so machine selection weighs clamping force for wide lids, steady packing for flat sealing faces and opening stroke for deep bodies. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for trackside enclosures and can recommend a configuration.

Machine Requirements for Trackside Enclosure Moulding

Field life for these parts depends on two things above all, UV stability and a sealing face that stays flat. The machine and mould must support:

  • Flat gasket grooves and lid sealing faces
  • Even cooling to keep wide lids from warping
  • UV-stabilised grades or masterbatch with good dispersion
  • Drying of FR PC and PC/ASA before moulding
  • Opening stroke and mould height for deep enclosure bodies
  • Impact strength at low temperature checked on moulded parts

Recommended Machine for Trackside and Signalling Enclosures

Small covers, cable entry plates and terminal lids can run on the E Series (75-180 T). Most enclosure bodies and lids have a wide footprint and depth that call for C Series (140-320 T) machines, or H Series (120-350 T) for the deepest bodies. Large cabinets are often made in GRP or metal rather than moulded thermoplastic.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

What signalling equipment suppliers usually ask before moulding enclosures.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Trackside and Signalling Enclosures?
C and H Series machines for most enclosure bodies and lids, chosen by footprint and depth. Smaller covers and plates can be moulded on the E Series.
  • How Is the IP Rating Protected During Moulding?
The rating depends on a flat sealing face and an even gasket groove. Gates are kept away from the seal, cooling is balanced, and flatness is checked on parts after they settle.
  • Which Material Suits Outdoor Trackside Service?
UV-stabilised FR PC and PC/ASA keep colour and impact strength in sunlight, while glass-filled PA6 and PBT suit internal brackets and frames. Low-temperature impact is tested on moulded parts.
  • Can Large Trackside Cabinets Be Injection Moulded?
Small and medium enclosures are moulded. Large cabinets usually go to GRP or metal, as a moulded version would need very large tools and presses.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Signalling Enclosure?
Yes. Share the drawing or 3D model, grade, sealing and UV requirements, part weight, mould dimensions, cavities and yearly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Railway Signalling Parts Too?
Yes. These machines also mould rail electrical junction boxes, insulated rail joint end posts, cable cleats and conduit saddles, subject to the mould.
