Injection Moulding Machine for Rail Clip Insulators, Insulating Liners and Guide Plates

Rail clip insulators, insulating liners and guide plates for E-clip, SKL and Nabla fastenings are moulded on horizontal injection moulding machines from glass-filled, UV-stabilised PA6 or PA66. Part size, cavity count and the glass-filled shot set the machine. Dimensional stability under load and moisture is what the inspection checks.

For track insulators, machine selection centres on a screw and barrel that withstand glass fibre, accurate shot control and a dryer sized for nylon. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for rail fastening parts and can recommend a configuration for each clip system.

Manufacturing Rail Clip Insulators?

Share the liner or guide plate drawing, clip system, grade and annual track quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a machine.

Machine Requirements for Rail Clip Insulator Moulding

These parts insulate the rail from the clip, protect the clip from wear and help hold gauge, so size and stiffness are the specification. Needs include:

  • Bimetallic screw and barrel for glass-filled nylon
  • Hopper drying of PA6 and PA66 to the grade limit
  • UV-stabilised grade for parts exposed on open track
  • Flatness on long guide plates without warp
  • Weld lines kept away from clip seats
  • Conditioning of parts before dimensional gauging

Recommended Machine for Rail Clip Insulators and Guide Plates

E-clip insulating liners are small, and several can be moulded per shot on the E Series (75-180 T). Guide plates for SKL and Nabla systems are generally larger with a heavier glass-filled shot. Those tools usually sit on a C Series (140-320 T) machine, and high-cavity guide plate moulds can go to an H Series (120-350 T).

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions track fastening suppliers ask before setting up insulator production.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Rail Clip Insulators and Guide Plates?
It depends on the clip system. E-clip liners usually run on the E Series, while SKL and Nabla guide plates, generally larger, move to the C or H Series.
  • Can One Mould Make E-clip, SKL and Nabla Insulators?
No. Each fastening system has its own geometry, so liners and guide plates for E-clip, SKL and Nabla need separate tools. An insulator enquiry is really a family of moulds.
  • Why Do Good Nylon Insulators Fail Gauging Straight After Moulding?
Nylon absorbs moisture after moulding and grows slightly. Gauging dry parts against a conditioned specification can reject good product, so parts are conditioned before measurement.
  • What Approvals Do Rail Clip Insulators Need?
Supply to Indian Railways needs RDSO approval. Export markets have their own railway standards, so confirm the drawing and grade with the buyer first.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Rail Clip Insulator?
Yes. Share the drawing, fastening system, grade and glass content, part weight, mould size, cavities and yearly quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Railway Track Parts Too?
Yes. The same machines can mould plastic sleeper dowels, rail insulator pads, insulated rail joint bushes and cable cleats, subject to the mould and material.
