Injection Moulding Machine for Tank Connectors and Tank Nipples

Tank connectors and tank nipples are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from PP or UPVC, as a threaded body and a backnut sealed with rubber washers. Connector size, thread length and the backnut mould decide the machine. The flange face matters most, because the washer seals against it and any flash or sink there can leak.

Selection for tank connectors weighs the long threaded body, the backnut unscrewing mould and a flat flange face. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for tank connector moulding and can work out a configuration for your sizes.

Machine Requirements for Tank Connector Moulding

A tank connector seals through a tank wall, so thread and flange quality come first. Look at:

  • Slides for long external threads on the body
  • Unscrewing cores for internal backnut threads
  • Flat flange face free of flash and sink
  • Clean parting line across the thread to stop leaks
  • Opening stroke for long connector bodies
  • Screw and barrel suited to PP or UPVC

Recommended Machine for Tank Connectors

Small tank nipples and their backnuts run well on the E Series (75-180 T). Larger connectors for big tank outlets have longer bodies and heavier flanges, so mould height and shot weight move them to C Series (140-320 T) machines, and to H Series (120-350 T) machines for the biggest outlets. Bodies and backnuts are often run as separate moulds on different machine sizes.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Answers to the questions tank fitting makers raise most.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Tank Connectors?
A horizontal machine sized by connector diameter and body length. Smaller nipples sit in the E Series. Large outlets with long threaded bodies need the mould space and shot capacity of the C or H Series.
  • How Is the Long Thread on a Tank Connector Moulded?
An external thread along the body is usually formed by two slides that open sideways, so the part ejects without turning. Slide faces must match well, or a ridge across the thread can cut the washer or let water through.
  • Does Sink on the Flange Affect Sealing?
Yes. The washer seals on the flange face, and a sink or ripple there can leak under tank pressure. Even flange thickness, cooling near the face and enough holding pressure keep it flat.
  • Which Material Suits Tank Connectors?
PP suits most water tank connectors and backnuts, with UV stabilised grades for rooftop tanks. UPVC connectors suit PVC pipe lines and can take a solvent-weld socket at the outlet. Rubber washers are separate parts.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Tank Connector?
Yes. Share the connector and backnut drawings, sizes, thread type, material, part weights, mould dimensions, cavities and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Water Line Fittings Too?
Usually, yes. Threaded adaptors, compression fittings, foot valves and flange adaptors can be moulded on the same class of machine, subject to each mould.
