Injection Moulding Machine for Plastic Valves

Plastic ball, gate and check valves are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, with the body, ball, stem and handle moulded as separate parts in UPVC, CPVC, PP or PVDF. Machine size follows the largest body: its projected area, shot weight and core pulls for the bore. For UPVC and CPVC, barrel heat control matters most.

Selection for valves turns on the body mould, which carries the bore cores and union threads, and on a screw and barrel that will run PVC without burning it. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for plastic valve production and can recommend a set-up for your valve range.

Machine Requirements for Plastic Valve Moulding

Valve parts differ in size and material, so the machine has to cover the body mould and run heat-sensitive PVC. The main points are:

  • PVC-suited screw and barrel with corrosion-resistant surfaces
  • Accurate barrel heating zones to stop UPVC and CPVC burning
  • Hydraulic core pulls for the through bore and end sockets
  • Unscrewing or collapsible cores for union nut threads
  • Thick ball sections cored out to control sink
  • Thorough purge when changing between PVC and PP

Recommended Machine for Plastic Valves

Small-bore valve bodies, balls, stems and handles can run on the E Series (75-180 T), often in multi-cavity moulds for the smaller parts. Larger bodies with union ends and several core pulls need more mould space and clamping force, which points to the C Series (140-320 T) or H Series (120-350 T). PVDF and PPH chemical valves are sized the same way, on their own temperature settings.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions valve makers ask our engineers before choosing a machine.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Plastic Valves?
A horizontal machine sized to the valve body. Small ball and check valves often sit in the E Series, while large-bore bodies with several cores move to the C or H Series. Stems and handles can share a smaller machine.
  • Which Material Suits a Plastic Valve?
UPVC suits cold water and many plumbing lines, and CPVC handles hot water. PP, PPH and PVDF are chosen for chemical and corrosive media. Each needs its own temperature settings, and CPVC and PVDF have narrow processing windows.
  • Can the Valve Body, Ball and Stem Run on One Machine?
They can, one mould at a time, if the machine covers the body mould. Many plants run bodies on a larger machine and keep balls, stems and handles on a smaller one, so assembly is not held up by mould changes.
  • What Does PVC Moulding Need From the Screw and Barrel?
UPVC and CPVC give off corrosive gas if they overheat or sit too long in the barrel. A PVC-suited screw with corrosion-resistant surfaces, a nozzle without dead spots and steady temperature control reduce burning and black specks.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Plastic Valve?
Yes. Share the valve type, drawings of the body and inner parts, material, part weights, mould sizes, core pulls and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other PVC Pipe and Fitting Parts Too?
Yes. Machines in this range can also mould pipe fittings, foot valves, tank connectors, threaded adaptors and end caps, depending on the mould size and core pulls each part needs.
