Injection Moulding Machine for P-Traps, Bottle Traps and Waste Fittings

P-traps, bottle traps and waste fittings are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from PP, UPVC or ABS. Part depth, mould height and the cores for curved bores decide the machine more than injection pressure, since drainage parts are bulky but low pressure. Curved bends matter most, needing rotating cores or a body moulded in parts.

Machine selection for traps looks at opening stroke for deep bodies, core pull circuits for bends and outlets, and mould space for wide waste fittings. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for trap and waste fitting moulding and can recommend a configuration.

Machine Requirements for P-Trap and Bottle Trap Moulding

Traps are deep, hollow and curved, so mould size and core actions lead the machine choice:

  • Opening stroke and mould height for deep trap bodies
  • Core pull circuits for outlet spigots and inlets
  • Curved or rotating cores for P-trap bends
  • Thread forming for screw-off bottle trap cups
  • Even cooling to control warpage on long bends
  • Plating-grade ABS for chrome-finish bottle traps

Recommended Machine for P-Traps and Bottle Traps

Small waste couplers, cups and dip tubes run on the E Series (75-180 T). Bottle trap bodies and P-traps are larger, deeper moulds, so they often need the opening stroke and platen space of a C Series (140-320 T) machine. The deepest bodies may need an H Series (120-350 T). Choose by mould size first, since injection pressure for drainage parts is moderate.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Answers to what drainage fitting makers ask us most.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make P-Traps and Bottle Traps?
Horizontal machines with enough daylight and stroke for deep moulds. Small waste parts fit the E Series. Trap bodies usually move to the C or H Series because of mould size rather than shot weight.
  • How Is the Bend of a P-Trap Moulded?
A curved bore cannot be pulled out straight. The mould uses a core that rotates out along the arc, or the trap is moulded in sections and joined by welding or threaded nuts.
  • Why Does Opening Stroke Matter for Bottle Traps?
Bottle bodies are deep, and the mould must open far enough to clear the core and drop the part. A short stroke forces awkward ejection or slow manual removal. Check stroke and maximum mould height against the mould.
  • Which Material Suits Traps and Waste Fittings?
PP suits hot waste water from sinks and basins, UPVC matches PVC drain lines, and ABS is used for visible bottle traps, including chrome-plated ones. Each needs its own temperature settings and screw care.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My P-Trap or Bottle Trap?
Yes. Share the trap drawing, sizes, material, part weight, mould dimensions and height, core pulls and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Drainage Fittings Too?
Yes. Pipe fittings, pipe joints, end caps and pipe clips for drain lines can run on the same machines, subject to mould size and core actions.
