Injection Moulding Machine for Printer Cartridge Bodies

Printer cartridge bodies, the toner cartridge frame, hopper and waste section, are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from HIPS, ABS or PC/ABS. Projected area of the long frame, mould size with its slides and lifters, and shot weight set the machine. Flatness of the joint faces matters most, since a warped face lets toner leak.

For cartridge frames, selection is about holding every locating feature in the same place shot after shot, across a mould full of side actions. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for cartridge body production and can recommend a configuration for your frame and hopper tools.

Machine Requirements for Printer Cartridge Body Moulding

Cartridge bodies carry many protrusions and recesses that locate the developer unit, so the machine has to repeat closely on a complex mould:

  • Platen size and mould height for multi-slide frame tools
  • Repeatable shot and holding pressure for locating features
  • Flat joint faces that seal against toner leakage
  • Balanced gating along the frame to control warpage
  • Sink control at bosses and screw towers on HIPS
  • Drying for ABS and PC/ABS before moulding

Recommended Machine for Printer Cartridge Bodies

Frame, hopper and waste sections are long parts with many side actions, so platen size and mould height count as much as clamping force. Smaller sections and covers run on the E Series (75-180 T). Full frame moulds usually go to the C Series (140-320 T) or H Series (120-350 T), and larger copier cartridge frames are discussed on request.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

What cartridge makers and remanufacturers ask most often about moulding frames and hoppers.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Printer Cartridge Bodies?
Horizontal machines in the mid-tonnage band. Small sections and covers can run in the E Series range, full frame and hopper tools usually need the C or H Series, and the largest copier frames are reviewed on request.
  • Why Is a Cartridge Body Injection Moulded Rather Than Blow Moulded?
The body needs many protrusions and recesses that let it locate against the developer unit. Injection moulding forms those features accurately, though the tooling costs more, a trade-off worth weighing on cost-driven programmes.
  • Which Material Suits a Cartridge Frame, HIPS or ABS?
HIPS is often chosen for cost and easy moulding. ABS or PC/ABS is used where the frame takes impact or clip loads. The two shrink differently, so changing resin on an existing mould can move critical dimensions.
  • What Matters When Moulding Bodies for Remanufactured Cartridges?
Interchangeability with the original part is the specification. Locating points, gear seats and joint faces must match it, so the process is set by gauging those features and keeping shrinkage, holding pressure and mould temperature steady.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Printer Cartridge Body?
Yes. Share the frame and hopper drawings or samples, resin, part weights, mould dimensions with slide layout, cavity plan and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Printer Cartridge Parts Too?
Yes. Waste toner containers, toner seals and shutters, cartridge gears and drive couplings, and printer internal parts can run on the same class of machine, subject to the mould.
