Injection Moulding Machine for Pharmaceutical and Diagnostic Droppers

Dropper stems, tips, collars and closures are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, in multi-cavity moulds, from PE, PP or PC. Cavity count, stem length and mould opening stroke set the machine size. Tip bore and taper matter most, since the moulded orifice, not the squeeze, sets the delivered drop volume.

For droppers, selection focuses on long slender cores filled without deflection, accurate tip forming in every cavity and enough stroke to eject long stems. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for dropper parts and can recommend a configuration for your assembly and mould.

Manufacturing Droppers?

Share the stem, tip and collar drawings with your resin, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.

Machine Requirements for Dropper Moulding

Only the rigid parts of a dropper are injection moulded, and each one affects dose or seal:

  • Balanced filling so long stem cores do not deflect
  • Tip bore and taper held steady in every cavity
  • Venting at the tip to avoid short shots
  • Graduation markings that stay accurate after shrinkage
  • Opening stroke and ejection for long pipette stems
  • Collar thread and seal face free of flash

Recommended Machine for Droppers

Dropper parts are light, but a long stem needs mould height and stroke, and high cavity counts widen the mould. For tip, collar and closure tools, the E Series (75-180 T) is the usual start, with Hybrid PH Series (120-140 T) as an option. Long-stem or high-cavity moulds can need an H Series machine (120-350 T), or a C Series (140-320 T) for a larger platen.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Common questions from pharma and diagnostic dropper makers.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Droppers?
A small horizontal machine for tips, collars and closures, usually in the E or Hybrid PH Series. Long plastic stems and very high-cavity tools need more opening stroke and platen space, which can mean a C or H Series press.
  • Is the Dropper Bulb Moulded on the Same Machine?
Usually not. Bulbs are rubber, TPE or silicone. Silicone bulbs are LSR moulded on a different machine and rubber bulbs are compression moulded, so only the stem, tip, collar and closure are covered here.
  • Why Is the Tip Inspected Cavity by Cavity?
The tip bore and taper set the drop size, so a small difference between cavities changes the delivered dose. Core pin wear, flash at the tip and incomplete filling are checked on samples from every cavity.
  • How Are Graduation Marks Kept Accurate?
The marks are cut into the mould with the expected shrinkage of the chosen resin allowed for. Changing the resin, mould temperature or holding pressure shifts the volume they mark, so any such change is verified again.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Dropper?
Yes. Share the drawings for each dropper part, resin, stem length, cavities, mould dimensions and annual quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Pharma and Diagnostic Parts Too?
Yes, subject to the mould. It can also run pharma vial closures, dosing cups, pipette tips and specimen containers, each with its own tool.
