Injection Moulding Machine for Dental Components

Dental components such as impression trays, mixing tips, aligner cases and instrument handles are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, mainly from PP, PC, PETG or ABS. Machine size follows part size and cavity count, which differ widely across this family. The mixing tip helix is the hardest feature, since its thin vanes must fill and release cleanly.

Because dental parts run from tiny tips to palm-sized trays, selection often splits the family across machine sizes. Pratishna Engineers can propose Hybrid PH, E, C or H Series horizontal machines for each tool and recommend the set-up that fits your dental product range.

Machine Requirements for Dental Component Moulding

Dental parts mix single-use and reusable items, so the material route is settled first. Selection points:

  • Fine helix detail in mixing tips filled and vented
  • Clean release of helical elements from the mould
  • PP living hinge on aligner and retainer cases
  • Cosmetic gloss and gate position on case lids
  • Autoclavable grades for reusable instrument handles
  • Perforated impression tray walls filled without short shots

Recommended Machine for Dental Components

Multi-cavity mixing tip moulds are a fit for the Hybrid PH Series (120-140 T) where repeat shot accuracy matters, or the E Series (75-180 T) for simpler tools. Impression trays and aligner cases suit the E Series, and bigger family layouts can step up to the C Series (140-320 T), with the H Series (120-350 T) where mould height is the limit.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Points dental consumable and instrument makers ask about before tooling up.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Dental Components?
It depends on the part. Mixing tips and other small parts often fit the Hybrid PH or E Series, impression trays and cases sit in the E Series, and larger family tools move to the C or H Series.
  • Why Are Mixing Tips Hard to Mould?
The helical mixing element is a fine internal shape with thin vanes. It needs fast injection, good venting to stop burn marks and a mould split that lets it release without dragging. Small shrinkage changes alter how the tip fits the cartridge.
  • Which Materials Suit Reusable Dental Instrument Handles?
Handles that go through repeated autoclave cycles need heat-resistant grades such as PSU or a suitable PC, both of which need drying and higher melt and mould temperatures. Single-use handles and trays are usually PP.
  • How Is the Living Hinge on an Aligner Case Moulded?
PP is used and the gate is placed so melt flows across the hinge, not along it, which gives the hinge its flex life. The hinge is flexed straight after ejection, and the lid face is kept free of gate marks and sink.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Dental Component?
Yes. Share drawings or samples of each part, materials, part weights, cavities, mould dimensions, any clean moulding area plan and yearly quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend suitable machines.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Medical Sector Parts Too?
Yes. Comparable machines mould droppers, dosing cups, single-use surgical instrument handles and luer lock fittings, with the series chosen to suit each mould.
