Injection Moulding Machine for Plastic Bins
Plastic storage and small parts bins are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from PP copolymer, HDPE or flame-retardant PP, in single or multi-cavity moulds by size. Bin projected area, depth and wall rib layout decide the tonnage and mould height. The open front lip is the main warp risk, so cooling matters.
Bin moulding puts the focus on even cooling, a clamp sized to the base and walls, and enough opening stroke to strip a deep body. Pratishna Engineers supplies injection moulding machines in horizontal and two-platen designs for storage bins, and can suggest a configuration to suit your bin sizes.

Machine Requirements for Plastic Bin Moulding
Bins are deep, thin-walled boxes with a long unsupported front edge, so flatness and stacking fit drive the machine set-up. Points to check:
- Ribbed front lip that stays straight after ejection
- Even cooling across all walls rather than shortened cooling time
- Nesting and stacking fit checked on moulded bins
- Opening stroke long enough to strip a deep bin
- Clamp force matched to base and wall projected area
- Screw suited to PP copolymer, HDPE and flame-retardant PP
Recommended Machine for Plastic Bins
Mid-size storage bins usually suit the H Series (120-350 T) or C Series (140-320 T), with tonnage taken from base area and depth. The PHM Series (160-350 T) helps when the mould is tall or wide for a toggle machine. Large stacking bins, and bigger sizes run in multi-cavity moulds, need more tonnage and are handled on request.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Points bin makers raise most often with our engineers.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Plastic Bins?
Bin size decides it. Smaller and mid-size bins often run on the H or C Series, and taller moulds can go on the PHM Series. Large warehouse bins move past these ranges and are discussed on request. Why Does the Front Lip of a Picking Bin Warp?
The open front is a long edge with no fourth wall to support it, so uneven cooling bends it. Ribbing the lip works better than thickening it, which adds sink and cycle time. Can Cooling Time Be Cut to Speed Up Bin Production?
Only with care. Bins ejected too hot often warp and then fail stacking or nesting checks. Gains usually come from the mould cooling layout rather than from a shorter cooling stage.
Are Label Holders and Dividers Moulded in the Bin Tool?
Usually not. Label holders, card holders and dividers are separate small mouldings, often run in multi-cavity tools on a smaller machine than the bin itself. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Plastic Bin?
Yes. Share the bin drawing, size range, material, part weight, mould dimensions and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Material Handling Parts Too?
Yes, subject to mould size. Plastic crates, crate and bin lids, dunnage trays and louvre bins can run on the same class of machine.
