Injection Moulding Machine for Castor and Trolley Wheels for Bins and Dollies
Castor and trolley wheels for bins and dollies are moulded on horizontal injection moulding machines, with a two-shot machine where a TPU or TPR tread is bonded to the hub. Hubs use PA6, glass-filled PA6, PP or POM. Wheel diameter and cavity count set tonnage, and tread bonding decides the process.
Selection for these wheels turns on whether the tread is overmoulded or the wheel is one material, and on hub strength under standing load. Pratishna Engineers builds special purpose injection moulding machines to application for two-shot wheels, supplies horizontal machines for single-material wheels, and can recommend a configuration.

Machine Requirements for Castor and Trolley Wheel Moulding
A bin or dolly wheel carries load for long periods, often standing still, and still has to roll quietly. Points to check:
- Tread bond to hub, checked by peel test
- Hub compound that resists creep and flat spots
- Dry glass-filled PA6 against splay and weak hubs
- Bearing seat gauged after moisture conditioning
- Screw and check ring suited to glass-filled nylon
- Core and ejection layout for spoked hub sections
Recommended Machine for Castor and Trolley Wheels
The overmoulded TPU or TPR tread version needs a two-shot machine, and Pratishna Engineers builds special purpose machines to application for it. Single-material hubs and wheels can run on the E Series (75-180 T) for smaller castors, moving up to the C Series (140-320 T), or to the H Series (120-350 T) for larger wheels or more cavities.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
What bin and dolly wheel makers usually ask our engineers.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Castor Wheels for Bins and Dollies?
It depends on the tread. Bonded soft treads need a special purpose two-shot machine built to application. Rigid one-material wheels go on the E Series, or the C and H Series for bigger sizes. Why Do Dolly Wheels Develop Flat Spots?
A loaded dolly left standing puts constant load on one point of each wheel. If the hub or tread compound creeps under that load, the wheel takes a set and runs rough afterwards. Compound choice for the load rating prevents it.How Is the Tread Bond on a Two-Shot Wheel Checked?
By peel testing the tread from the hub on sample wheels. Bond strength depends on matched hub and tread materials, hub surface temperature at the second shot and clean mould faces.
Why Does a Nylon Wheel Bearing Seat Change Size?
PA6 absorbs moisture after moulding and grows slightly. Measured dry straight off the mould, a seat will tighten later, so bearing seats are gauged in the conditioned state and mould sizes set for it.Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Castor Wheel?
Yes. Share the wheel drawing, load rating, hub and tread materials, whether the tread is bonded, part weight, mould details and volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Material Handling Parts Too?
The standard series also suit pallet feet, container handles, foldable crate hinges and label holders. Bulk container fittings can run on the same machines, depending on size.
