Injection Moulding Machine for Street Light Housing Parts and Gear Trays

Street light and outdoor luminaire housing parts and gear trays are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from UV-stabilised FR PC, glass-filled PA6 or PC/ASA. Machine size depends on part area, depth and wall thickness. Flatness of the sealing face matters most, because warpage there breaks the gasket seal and lets water in.

Outdoor parts need UV-stable material, warp control on large flat faces and steady cooling across the mould. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for street light housing parts and can recommend a configuration for your part and mould.

Machine Requirements for Street Light Housing Parts

Road and area lighting parts stay outdoors for years, and the gasket face decides whether water stays out. Points to check when selecting a machine:

  • UV-stabilised grade so FR PC does not yellow outdoors
  • Flat, warp-free sealing faces and gasket grooves
  • Balanced cooling across large housing parts and covers
  • Wear-resistant screw for glass-filled PA6 gear trays
  • Drying of PC, PA6 and PC/ASA before moulding
  • Platen size and opening stroke for deep housing sections

Recommended Machine for Street Light Housing Parts

Gear trays, driver covers and smaller luminaire parts can run on the E Series (75-180 T). Larger housing sections and covers belong in the C Series (140-320 T) and H Series (120-350 T), near the top of the plastic size band. Mould height and tool weight are worth checking against the platen early in the quote.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions outdoor lighting makers ask before ordering a machine.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Street Light Housing Parts?
Most moulded street light parts sit in the C and H Series range, with gear trays and small covers on the E Series. The choice follows projected area, shot weight and the depth of the housing section.
  • Why Does a Street Light Cover Turn Yellow?
Standard FR PC yellows and loses strength under sunlight without UV stabilisation. Outdoor parts use UV-stabilised PC or PC/ASA, and any masterbatch or regrind added must keep the same protection.
  • How Is Warpage Controlled on the Sealing Face?
Even wall thickness, balanced cooling on both mould halves and gating that fills the face evenly keep it flat. Glass-filled PA6 warps along the fibre direction, so gate position is set with the gasket groove in mind.
  • Are Large Street Light Bodies Injection Moulded?
Smaller and mid-size housings can be moulded. The largest road lighting bodies usually go past the plastic size band and are die-cast aluminium, fitted with moulded gear trays, covers and accessories.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Street Light Parts?
Yes. Share the part drawings or samples, material grades, gasket design, part weights, mould sizes, cavity counts and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend suitable machines.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Outdoor Lighting Parts Too?
Yes. Similar machines can mould cable glands, LED potting boxes, diffuser covers and tube light gear trays, subject to each mould and material.
