Injection Moulding Machine for Welding Helmet Shells and ADF Housings

Welding helmet shells and ADF cartridge housings are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, with shells in glass-filled PA6 or PP and housings in PC, ABS or nylon. Shell depth, projected area and mould height set machine size. Heat and spatter resistance near the arc matters most in the shell material choice.

Machine selection for welding helmets centres on deep shell moulds with long opening stroke, glass-filled nylon processing and a square, dust-tight ADF housing. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for welding helmet moulding and can recommend a configuration for your shell and cartridge.

Machine Requirements for Welding Helmet Moulding

A head-mounted welding helmet shell is a deep, heat-exposed part, and the ADF housing holds an optical stack. Points for the machine:

  • Mould height and opening stroke for deep helmet shells
  • Wear-resistant screw for glass-filled PA6 shell grades
  • Heat and spatter resistant grades near the arc
  • Square, flat ADF housing frame that seals against dust
  • Balanced cooling against warpage on wide shell sides
  • Even fill around the viewing window without weld line cracks

Recommended Machine for Welding Helmet Shells and ADF Housings

Head-mounted shells are deep parts with large projected area, so mould height, opening stroke and tonnage point to the H Series (120-350 T). Mid-size shells can also run on the C Series (140-320 T). ADF cartridge housings, hand-held masks and headgear parts are smaller and suit the E Series (75-180 T).

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Welding PPE makers tend to ask these before choosing a machine for shells and housings.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Welding Helmet Shells?
Head-mounted shells usually need the C or H Series because of their depth and projected area. ADF cartridge housings and hand-held welding masks are smaller mouldings that often fit the E Series.
  • Which Material Suits a Welding Helmet Shell?
Heat and spatter resistance decide it. Glass-filled PA6 and specialist heat-resistant grades hold up near the arc better than plain ABS, and PP suits hand-held masks. Dry nylon fully to avoid splay and brittle shells.
  • What Makes the ADF Cartridge Housing Critical?
It holds the auto-darkening filter and cover lenses square and sealed against dust. Warpage or sink on the frame face lets dust in or tilts the optical stack, so cool the frame evenly and gauge flatness on first-off parts.
  • Is a Hand-Held Welding Mask the Same Moulding Job?
No. Hand-held masks are simpler PP mouldings with no headgear. They need less clamping force and mould space than a head-mounted shell and suit a smaller machine.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Welding Helmet?
Yes. Share shell and ADF housing drawings or samples, materials, part weights, mould sizes including height, cavities and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Head and Eye Protection Parts Too?
Yes. Face shield browguards, visor clamp and pivot mechanisms, safety goggles frames and hard hat cradle parts can be moulded on similar machines, subject to mould size.
