Injection Moulding Machine for Safety Goggles Frames

Safety goggles frames are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, often two-shot, joining a soft PVC or TPE face seal to a rigid PP, PC or nylon lens carrier. Projected area, cavity count and the two-material layout set machine size. Bond strength between the materials matters most, and vent geometry stays fixed once the goggle is approved.

Machine selection for goggles frames turns on how the face seal is made: a second injection unit in the same cycle, or a separate tool and assembly. Pratishna Engineers builds special purpose injection moulding machines to application for two-shot frames, supplies horizontal machines for single-material parts, and can recommend a configuration.

Machine Requirements for Safety Goggles Frame Moulding

A goggles frame pairs a soft seal with a rigid carrier and is approved only as part of the complete goggle. Points to check when choosing a machine:

  • Two-shot capability or a second tool for the face seal
  • Validated bond between the soft seal and rigid carrier
  • Drying of PC and nylon carriers before moulding
  • Vent openings filled fully, with no flash, every shot
  • Clean seal edge with skin-contact grade compliance data
  • Clamping force sized to frame projected area and cavities

Recommended Machine for Safety Goggles Frames

Two-shot goggles frames, with the face seal moulded onto the lens carrier in one cycle, need a special purpose machine built to application, which Pratishna Engineers builds. Where seal and carrier are moulded in separate tools and assembled, the E Series (75-180 T) covers most frame moulds. Wide-vision frames and multi-cavity tools move up to the C Series (140-320 T) and, for the largest, the H Series (120-350 T).

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions goggle makers raise most often before they settle on a moulding machine.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Safety Goggles Frames?
A two-shot frame runs on a special purpose machine built to application. Single-material carriers and separately moulded seals usually fit the E Series, moving to the C or H Series for larger frames or more cavities.
  • Should the Face Seal Be Two-Shot or a Separate Moulding?
Two-shot gives one part with no assembly, but the seal and carrier grades must bond and the tool costs more. Two tools plus assembly suits lower volumes or pairs that bond poorly. Test the bond on production parts either way.
  • Does a Resin or Colour Change Affect Goggle Approval?
Usually, yes. Approval covers the complete goggle, so a new resin grade, colourant or tool often means re-testing. Fix the grades and masterbatch with your buyer before tooling and keep lot records for every batch.
  • Why Do the Vent Openings Need Close Attention in Moulding?
Direct, indirect or non-vented layouts are part of what gets approved. Short shots or flash in the vent slots change airflow and can fail inspection, so check vent fill on first-off parts from every cavity.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Safety Goggles Frame?
Yes. Share the frame drawing or sample, seal and carrier materials, two-shot or assembly route, part weights, mould size, cavities and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other PPE Parts Too?
Yes. Similar machines mould safety spectacle frames, face shield browguards, respirator cartridge housings and ear defender cups, subject to the mould and the materials chosen.
