Injection Moulding Machine for Hard Hat Cradles and Ratchet Parts
Hard hat cradles, suspension straps and ratchet parts are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from HDPE, PP, PA6 or POM, often in family or multi-cavity tools. Strap length, cavities and projected area set machine size. Consistent strap strength matters most, because the suspension carries the impact load in the helmet test.
For hard hat suspension parts, machine selection centres on long thin straps that fill fully, a POM ratchet that engages cleanly, and steady settings shot after shot. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for cradle and ratchet moulding and can recommend a configuration.

Machine Requirements for Hard Hat Cradle and Ratchet Moulding
The suspension is a tested safety component of the helmet, not a trim part. When choosing a machine, check for:
- Full fill along long, thin cradle straps
- UV-stabilised HDPE or PP grades for outdoor ageing
- POM ratchet wheel and pawl with clean, flash-free teeth
- Weld lines kept out of strap crossover and clip points
- Family tools for ratchet, pawl and sweatband carrier
- Mould width for flat-laid cradle strap tools
Recommended Machine for Hard Hat Cradles and Ratchet Parts
Cradle straps are long but light, so the size and projected area of the laid-flat tool decide tonnage. Ratchet wheels, pawls, sweatband carriers and many cradle tools run on the E Series (75-180 T). Wider multi-cavity cradle moulds can go on the H Series (120-350 T), with the C Series (140-320 T) as another option for large family tools.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Points helmet makers raise before moulding suspension and ratchet parts in-house.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Hard Hat Cradles and Ratchet Parts?
Most cradle, ratchet and pawl tools fit the E Series. Wide multi-cavity cradle moulds and large family tools move up to the H or C Series, picked by mould width and the clamping force the tool needs. Can the Same Machine Mould the Hard Hat Shell?
Usually not. The shell is a much larger moulding and needs more clamping force and mould space than the suspension parts. Share the shell drawing and mould size separately and Pratishna Engineers can advise on it.Why Is POM Used for the Ratchet Wheel?
POM gives low friction, wear resistance and a crisp click across many adjustments. Vent the tool well at the tooth tips, as POM traps gas and shows burn marks, and keep melt temperature steady to avoid degradation.
Does the Suspension Need UV and Ageing Tests?
Yes. The suspension is tested with the shell, including ageing and UV exposure, so mould it in the stabilised grade the helmet was approved with. Switching resin or masterbatch to save cost usually means a fresh test. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Hard Hat Cradle?
Yes. Share drawings or samples of the cradle, ratchet and sweatband parts, materials, part weights, mould sizes, cavities and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Head Protection Parts Too?
Yes. Similar machines mould face shield browguards, visor clamp and pivot mechanisms, ear defender headband arms and welding helmet ADF housings, subject to mould size.
