Injection Moulding Machine for Thin-wall Square Containers and Tubs

Thin-wall square containers and tubs are moulded on horizontal injection moulding machines using single or multi-cavity hot runner tools, from PP copolymer or IML-grade PP. Cavity count and projected area set tonnage, while flow length against wall thickness sets the injection speed and pressure needed. Corner filling matters most for this shape.

Thin-wall work puts injection speed, injection pressure and a short dry cycle ahead of raw clamp size. Pratishna Engineers offers horizontal injection moulding machines for square tub production and can recommend a set-up once the wall, flow length and cavity plan are known.

Machine Requirements for Thin-wall Square Tub Moulding

A thin square tub fills from the base gate out to four distant corners, so the machine needs:

  • Fast injection to reach corners before the wall freezes
  • High injection pressure for long thin flow paths
  • Short dry cycle for quick mould open and close
  • Rapid even cooling of thin walls and base
  • Corner radii and ribs that ease filling and stress
  • Clean ejection of thin walls without stress whitening

Recommended Machine for Thin-wall Square Tubs

Smaller square tubs in multi-cavity tools can run on the E Series (75-180 T). Mid-size tubs and higher cavities move to the C Series (140-320 T). Larger tubs and tools at the top of the range go on the H Series (120-350 T). Check injection speed and pressure as closely as tonnage for thin walls.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Common questions from makers of square tubs for industrial and retail fills.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Thin-wall Square Tubs?
The E Series suits smaller tubs, the C Series mid-size tubs and higher cavities, and the H Series larger tubs. For thin walls a machine is judged on fill speed and pressure as well as clamp tonnage.
  • Why Do Square Tubs Crack or Short Shot at the Corners?
Corners are the furthest point from the gate and the thinnest flow path, so melt arrives last and coolest. Sharp corners also concentrate stress. Corner radii, ribs and correct venting reduce both faults.
  • How Thin Can the Wall of a Square Tub Be?
It depends on flow length, material flow grade and the injection speed and pressure available. Thinner walls save material but raise the demand on machine and mould, so wall and machine are decided together.
  • Can Square Tubs Carry In-Mould Labels?
Yes, IML-grade PP is used for labelled tubs. Four flat sides suit wrap-around or side labels, and the mould and label robot are designed for IML from the start.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Square Tub?
Yes. Share the tub drawing, capacity, wall thickness, flow length, material grade, cavity count, decoration method and output target, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Industrial Packaging Parts Too?
Yes. The same machines can also mould pail and tub lids, jerry-can caps and screw caps for lube bottles, subject to cavity count and mould size.
