Injection Moulding Machine for Curtain Finials and Decorative Ends

Curtain finials and decorative ends are moulded on horizontal injection moulding machines in ABS, PS or PP, often for painting, metallising or chrome plating. Machine size depends on the ornament volume, cavity count and any threaded insert loaded into the mould. Thick decorative shapes are cored out, or the show face sinks.

Finials are judged on surface finish, so machine selection looks at shot control, holding pressure and a stable mould temperature for a polished tool. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for curtain ornament moulding and can recommend a configuration for your design.

Machine Requirements for Curtain Ornament Moulding

A curtain ornament is a decorative part with a working thread, and moulding it well depends on:

  • Cored-out sections that keep sink off the show face
  • Plating-grade ABS for chrome or metallised finishes
  • Polished mould run at a steady mould temperature
  • Gate placed where the mark hides under the rod end
  • Threaded metal insert held firmly during injection
  • Low moulded-in stress so plating does not peel

Recommended Machine for Curtain Ornaments

Finials and end caps are modest in size, and the E Series (75-180 T) fits typical single or multi-cavity ornament tools, including moulds that take threaded inserts. Large decorative ends, or tools with many cavities for plated parts, can move to the H Series (120-350 T) for more platen area and shot capacity.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Common questions from makers of curtain finials and decorative ends.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Curtain Finials?
Pratishna Engineers recommends the E Series for many finial and end-cap tools, as the shot is small to medium. Bigger ornaments or high-cavity plated-part tools can go to the H Series.
  • Why Does the Finial Face Show Sink Marks?
Thick decorative sections shrink unevenly as they cool. Coring out the inside to an even wall, with enough holding pressure from a gate near the thick zone, keeps the show face clean.
  • Which Material Suits Chrome-Plated Finials?
Plating-grade ABS is the usual choice, since it bonds well with the plating layers. PS and PP suit painted or plain coloured ends. Plating shows every flow and weld line, so the tool needs a high polish.
  • Is the Threaded Insert Moulded In or Pressed?
Both routes are used. Moulding in gives a firm hold but adds insert loading time to each cycle. Pressing or heat-inserting after moulding keeps the cycle shorter and needs a well-sized bore.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Curtain Ornament?
Yes. Share the ornament drawing or sample, material, finish, part weight, insert type, cavity count and mould dimensions, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Curtain Fittings Too?
Yes. The same machines can mould curtain rings, curtain brackets, plastic hooks and soap dish and bathroom accessory parts, subject to the mould.
