Injection Moulding Machine for Plastic Stools
Plastic stools are moulded on high-tonnage horizontal injection moulding machines, usually one stool per shot, from PP copolymer, HDPE or talc-filled PP. Projected area of the seat plus runners sets the minimum clamping force, with shot weight and mould height close behind. Filling the thin seat rim at the end of a long flow path is the main process risk.
Selection for a stool tool weighs clamping force and injection speed against the stacking design built into the mould. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal and two-platen injection moulding machines for smaller stool moulds and can suggest a setup once the seat size and shot weight are known.

Machine Requirements for Plastic Stool Moulding
Stools look simple, but a thin seat and stacking legs put specific demands on the press:
- Clamping force covering seat area plus runner and gate
- Fast injection to fill the seat rim before it freezes
- Venting at the rim and leg ends against short shots
- Stacking draft and nesting height built into the tool
- Mould height and opening stroke for a tall stool core
- Stiff copolymer or talc-filled grade for load-bearing seats
Recommended Machine for Plastic Stools
Smaller and children’s stools can fit the H Series (120-350 T), the Two-Platen PHM Series (160-350 T) or the C Series (140-320 T), depending on seat area and mould height. A two-platen machine gives more room for a tall stool mould. Larger stools and bar stools that need more tonnage are discussed on request.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
What stool makers ask most when they plan a new stool tool.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Plastic Stools?
Stools need high clamping force for their size because the seat is a broad, flat area. Smaller stools can fall within the H, C or PHM range, while tall or large stools may need a bigger press. What Causes Short Shots at the Stool Seat Rim?
The rim is the farthest point from the gate, so thin high-flow PP can freeze before it fills. Faster injection, better venting at the rim, a warmer mould or a gate moved closer can correct it.How Does Stacking Design Affect the Stool Mould?
Stacking draft and nesting height are set in the tool, not added later. Steeper leg draft eases ejection and nesting but changes the look and the load path, so agree it before steel is cut.
Which Test Shows a Stool Is Strong Enough?
Load testing is the acceptance check. A stool can pass a static load and still crack under repeated loading, so agree both tests with your customer and trial the grade and wall design before production. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Plastic Stool?
Yes. Share the stool drawing or sample, material, shot weight, mould dimensions and daily output, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a suitable machine and clamping force.Does the Machine Suit Other Furniture Parts Too?
Yes. Depending on mould size, the same machines can mould plastic drawers, modular storage bins, storage crate lids and furniture legs and glides.
