Injection Moulding Machine for Modular Storage Bins, Boxes and Connectors

Modular storage parts, such as bins, boxes, crates and shelving connectors, are moulded on horizontal injection moulding machines in PP copolymer, HDPE or ABS. Each item needs its own machine size: large bins are set by projected area and mould height, while small connectors run in multi-cavity tools. Matched shrinkage between lids and bases decides whether parts close and stack.

Because a storage range mixes large and small tools, selection usually starts with the largest bin and works down. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines across this spread and can recommend a machine plan for the whole storage family.

Making a Modular Storage Range?

Share the list of bins, lids and connectors with mould sizes, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest machines for each.

Machine Requirements for Modular Storage Moulding

A storage range covers several parts and tools, and machine choice should account for:

  • Tonnage and mould height for the largest bin
  • Multi-cavity capacity for small shelving connectors
  • Matched shrinkage between lid and base tools
  • Copolymer grades that resist corner cracking in cold rooms
  • Draft and stacking lugs that nest without sticking
  • Quick mould and colour change across the range

Recommended Machine for Modular Storage

Connectors, clips and small boxes fit the E Series (75-180 T). Mid-size bins and lids suit the C Series (140-320 T), and the H Series (120-350 T) takes larger bins and deeper boxes. Very large bins and crates that need more clamping force than these series offer are discussed on request.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions storage product makers ask when planning machines for a full range.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Modular Storage Parts?
Several horizontal machines are usually needed, since a range runs from small connectors to large bins. Size the biggest press on the largest bin, then place connectors and fittings on smaller machines with multi-cavity tools.
  • Why Does a Storage Lid Not Fit Its Base?
Lids and bases come from separate tools, and if their shrinkage is not matched the lid will not seal or stack. Use the same grade, similar mould temperature and agreed shrinkage values in both tools.
  • Which PP Grade Should Be Used for Storage Bins?
Load-bearing bins need PP copolymer or a filled grade. Homopolymer PP can crack at the corners in cold storage or when dropped. HDPE suits bins that must stay tough at low temperature.
  • Can One Machine Run Several Storage Moulds?
Yes, if the moulds fall within its tonnage, platen and mould height limits. Grouping similar-size tools on one machine cuts idle time, with mould change and colour change planned between runs.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Modular Storage Range?
Yes. Share the part list, drawings or samples, materials, shot weights, mould dimensions and monthly volumes, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend machines for each tool.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Furniture and Hardware Parts Too?
The same machines can mould plastic drawers, storage crate lids and latches, knock-down fittings and push-fit panel clips, depending on mould size.
