Injection Moulding Machine for Spouts, Pourers and Dispensing Inserts

Spouts, pourers and dispensing closure inserts are moulded on horizontal injection moulding machines, in high-cavity hot runner moulds, from PP, HDPE or LDPE. Machine size depends on cavity count and shot weight, and one closure often needs separate tools for insert, flip lid and outer ring. Runner balance matters most, as it sets the scrap rate.

For pour and dispensing closures, selection centres on accurate small shots, repeatable injection across many cavities and stable hot runner control. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal and hybrid injection moulding machines for these parts and can recommend a configuration for each tool in the closure set.

Machine Requirements for Spout and Pourer Moulding

Pourers and dispensing inserts are sold on how they pour and cut off, so small features must mould the same in every cavity. Check:

  • Sharp, flash-free pour lip for a drip-free cut-off
  • Balanced hot runner so every cavity fills the same
  • Orifice and channel sizes held for a controlled pour rate
  • Matched tolerances between insert, flip lid and outer ring
  • LDPE plugs and inserts stripped cleanly from undercuts
  • Small, repeatable shot weight across high cavity counts

Recommended Machine for Spouts, Pourers and Dispensing Inserts

The Hybrid PH Series (120-140 T), with electric injection, suits high-cavity hot runner moulds where shot repeatability decides scrap. Smaller insert and ring tools run on the E Series (75-180 T), and the H Series (120-350 T) covers larger outer closure moulds or higher cavity counts.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Points closure makers raise when setting up a dispensing closure programme.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Spouts and Pourers?
Horizontal machines from the Hybrid PH, E or H Series are used, picked tool by tool. Small inserts often run on the E Series, precision high-cavity tools on the Hybrid PH, and larger outer closure moulds on the H Series.
  • Why Does a Pourer Drip After Pouring?
A drip usually traces back to the pour lip edge. Flash, a rounded edge from a worn parting line or a short shot at the lip stops the liquid cutting off cleanly, so lip condition and venting are checked in every cavity.
  • Does a Dispensing Closure Need More Than One Mould?
Often, yes. The insert, flip lid and outer ring are usually separate tools that must fit together, so they are qualified as a set. Each tool may suit a different machine size, which affects how the line is planned.
  • Which Material Suits a Spout or Dispensing Insert?
PP is common for flip lids and outer rings, where hinges and stiffness matter. LDPE suits plug-fit inserts that must grip the bottle neck and seal, and HDPE sits between the two for stiffer inserts and spouts.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Spout or Pourer?
Yes. Share drawings or samples of each closure part, materials, part weights, mould sizes, cavity counts and required output, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend suitable machines.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Caps and Closures Too?
Yes. Machines in these series also mould bottle caps, flip-top caps, measuring scoops, dosing caps and aerosol actuators, subject to cavity count and mould size.
