Injection Moulding Machine for Rollers
Conveyor, guide and idler roller bodies are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from POM, PA6, glass-filled PA6, HDPE or PP, depending on load and service. Roller length and diameter set mould size and shot weight. Thick hubs are the main risk, so they are cored out and ribbed to avoid sink and voids.
Rollers run quiet only when they turn true, so the machine has to pack the bearing seat and shell evenly from one shot to the next. Pratishna Engineers makes horizontal injection moulding machines that suit roller moulds of this kind and can help select one for your roller.

Machine Requirements for Roller Moulding
Roller bodies are long, round parts with a bearing seat at each end, and the machine has to fill them without voids. Points to check:
- Cored-out hubs and ribs instead of solid thick sections
- Enough shot weight for long roller shells
- Holding pressure control against sink at the hub
- Bearing seat tolerance held for pressed-in or insert races
- Opening stroke and mould height for long roller cores
- UV-stabilised or food-contact grades for outdoor or wash-down use
Recommended Machine for Rollers
Small guide and idler rollers in multi-cavity moulds often fit the E Series (75-180 T). Longer conveyor roller shells need more shot weight and opening stroke, which moves them to the C Series (140-320 T), and the H Series (120-350 T) takes the largest roller moulds and glass-filled jobs with heavy hubs.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
What roller makers usually ask before buying a machine.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Rollers?
Size follows the roller. E Series machines suit small guide and idler rollers, C Series machines handle longer conveyor shells, and the H Series covers the largest roller moulds in the range. How Are Thick Roller Hubs Moulded Without Sink or Voids?
Solid hubs shrink inward as they cool, leaving sink on the surface and voids inside. Coring the hub out, adding ribs to carry the load and keeping holding pressure on until the gate freezes solves most of it.Are Bearings Moulded into the Roller or Pressed In?
Both are used. Bearings are often pressed into a moulded seat after the part has cooled, or placed in the mould as inserts. Either way, the moulding has to hold the seat size so the bearing sits square.
Which Material Suits Outdoor or Wash-Down Rollers?
Outdoor rollers need a UV-stabilised grade, and rollers on food or wash-down lines need a food-contact grade. Both are chosen before the mould is built, since shrinkage differs between POM, nylon, HDPE and PP.Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Roller?
Yes. Share the roller drawing or sample, material, bearing arrangement, part weight, mould dimensions, number of cavities and yearly quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Conveyor and Engineering Parts Too?
Yes. Rollers share machines with castor wheels, chain and conveyor components, sprockets and bushings, subject to the mould and shot weight.
