Injection Moulding Machine for Terminal Blocks and Connectors

Terminal blocks and connectors are moulded on horizontal injection moulding machines from flame-retardant PA66, PBT or PC, often glass-filled. Number of poles, cavities and the length of strip blocks decide the machine. Thin walls between poles need full fill and tight dimensions, because they set creepage distance and clamp fit.

Terminal block machine choice depends on glass-filled grades, drying and flatness of long multi-pole strips. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for terminal block production and can recommend a configuration for your block and mould.

Machine Requirements for Terminal Block Moulding

A terminal block holds metal clamps in pockets separated by thin insulating walls. The machine needs to deliver:

  • Bimetallic screw and barrel for glass-filled grades
  • Drying of PA66 and PBT before moulding
  • Full fill of thin walls between poles
  • Straight multi-pole strips with low warpage
  • Clean rail clip snaps without stress whitening
  • Accurate clamp pockets and screw holes

Recommended Machine for Terminal Blocks and Connectors

Rail-mount blocks, small connectors and short strips mould well on the E Series (75-180 T). Long multi-pole strips, larger power blocks and high cavity counts need more platen area and clamping force, so a C or H Series machine is chosen to suit the mould.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Machine questions terminal block makers raise most often.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Terminal Blocks and Connectors?
Most terminal block moulds run on the E Series. Long strips, heavy power blocks or moulds with many cavities are moved up to the C or H Series according to projected area and shot size.
  • Why Do Glass-Filled Terminal Strips Warp?
Glass fibres line up with the flow and shrink less along the fibre than across it. Gate position, even wall thickness and balanced cooling keep long strips straight.
  • Are Brass Clamps Moulded In?
Clamps and screws are usually assembled after moulding into moulded pockets. Blocks with moulded-in brass inserts need insert loading and a mould review before machine selection.
  • Which Grade Gives Good Tracking Resistance?
Flame-retardant PA66 and PBT grades with a high tracking index are often used for terminal blocks. Grade choice affects drying time and melt temperature, so share it at enquiry.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Terminal Block?
Yes. Share drawings or samples, pole count, material grade, part weights, mould dimensions, number of cavities and production target, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Electrical Building Products Too?
Yes. The same machines can mould switch contact carriers, MCB housings, lamp holders and cable glands, subject to mould and grade.
