Injection Moulding Machine for PVC Trunking Accessories

PVC trunking and raceway accessories such as end caps, joints, bends, tees and corners are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from UPVC, PVC or PP, while the trunking body is extruded. Trunking size, cavity count and part depth set the machine. Fit and colour must match the extruded profile.

Machine choice for trunking accessories depends on the largest trunking size in the range and on PVC-suited processing. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for raceway accessory production and can recommend a configuration for your accessory moulds.

Share trunking sizes, accessory types, material and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.

Machine Requirements for Trunking Accessory Moulding

Accessories slide over or into the extruded trunking and its cover, so their fit decides how the installed run looks. The machine should support:

  • PVC-suited screw and barrel with low shear
  • Short residence time to stop PVC degradation
  • Snap lips and fit held to the trunking profile
  • Colour and gloss matched to the extruded trunking
  • Undercut release by slides or stripper action
  • Thin flat faces moulded without warpage or sink

Recommended Machine for PVC Trunking Accessories

Accessories for small and mini trunking are moulded on the E Series (75-180 T), often several cavities to a mould. Wider trunking sizes give larger bends, tees and corners with deeper cores and side actions, which need the larger C and H Series machines.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions raised by makers of trunking and raceway accessories.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make PVC Trunking Accessories?
For small trunking, the E Series handles most end cap and joint moulds. Bends, tees and corners for wide trunking are larger and deeper, so they are matched to the C or H Series.
  • Is the Trunking Itself Injection Moulded?
No. The trunking body and cover are extruded as continuous profiles. Only the accessories that join, end or turn the run are injection moulded.
  • How Do You Match Accessory Colour to the Trunking?
Use the same base compound family and colour standard as the extruded trunking. Steady melt and mould temperature keep shade and gloss even, and a purge between colours avoids streaks.
  • Why Does PVC Burn or Show Black Specks?
PVC degrades with heat and time. Excess shear, high barrel temperature or material left in the barrel during stops cause burning, so purge before shutdowns and size the shot to the barrel.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Trunking Accessories?
Yes. Share trunking sizes, accessory drawings or samples, material grade, part weights, mould dimensions, cavities and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Electrical Building Products Too?
Yes. Similar machines can mould conduit fittings, junction boxes, distribution board covers and cable saddles, subject to the mould.
