Injection Moulding Machine for MCB Housings
MCB housings are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, in multi-cavity case and cover moulds, from glass-filled PA66 or PBT, with DMC or BMC thermoset for higher breaking capacities. Cavity count and mould size set the machine. The arc chamber matters most: case and cover must mate with no flash inside the arc path.
Machine selection for MCB parts focuses on tight shot control for stable pocket dimensions and wear protection against glass fibre. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for thermoplastic MCB housings, builds special purpose machines to application for thermoset versions, and can recommend a configuration.
Moulding MCB Housings?
Share the case and cover drawings, grade, pole count and cavity plan, and Pratishna Engineers will advise on the machine.
Machine Requirements for MCB Housing Moulding
An MCB case holds the trip mechanism and contains the arc, so dimensions inside the case count more than the outside. Check for:
- Flash-free parting line along the arc chamber
- Stable mechanism pockets so case and cover mate cleanly
- Wear-resistant screw and barrel for glass-filled PA66 and PBT
- Drying of nylon and PBT to stop splay and brittle parts
- Moisture conditioning of nylon parts before gauging
- Cool, balanced moulds so thin case walls do not warp
Recommended Machine for MCB Housings
Single-pole cases, covers and handles in multi-cavity moulds sit on the E Series (75-180 T). Multi-pole cases and larger family moulds move to the C Series (140-320 T) or H Series (120-350 T). DMC and BMC housings need a thermoset machine with a stuffer feed, built to application as a special purpose machine.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Questions breaker makers ask before they commit to case tooling.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make MCB Housings?
For glass-filled nylon or PBT cases, the E Series covers single-pole tools and the C or H Series covers multi-pole cases and family moulds. Thermoset DMC cases need a special purpose machine with stuffer feed, built to application. When Is DMC Used Instead of Glass-Filled Nylon?
Thermoset DMC or BMC is chosen as breaking capacity rises, because it does not soften or drip near the arc. FR PA66 is common for handles and lower-rated breakers, where it moulds faster and allows regrind. Why Do Nylon MCB Cases Change Size After Moulding?
PA66 takes up moisture after moulding and grows slightly. Parts measured straight off the press can read undersize later, so cases are conditioned before gauging and mould dimensions are set against conditioned parts.
How Is Flash Kept Out of the Arc Chamber?
A well-fitted parting line, vents placed away from the arc path, and a clamp with margin over the projected area keep flash out. Worn shut-offs are the usual cause, so mould maintenance is planned. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My MCB Housing?
Yes. Share the case and cover drawings or samples, grade, part weights, mould size, cavity count and monthly output, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Circuit Protection Parts Too?
Yes, subject to the mould. Similar machines run RCCB housings, circuit protection parts such as trip levers and terminal covers, and contactor or relay housings.
