Injection Moulding Machine for Electricity Meter Boxes
Electricity meter boxes are made on large horizontal injection moulding machines from FR PC, PC/ABS or FR PP, and thermoset BMC boxes on machines built for that compound. The large flat projected area of base and door sets the clamping force. Holding the door face flat during cooling decides whether doors fit on site.
Machine selection for a meter box starts with the box footprint and the door, then the material and whether the mould has sealing and tamper features. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for meter box production and can recommend a configuration for your box and mould.

Machine Requirements for Meter Box Moulding
Meter boxes are big, flat and installed outdoors for many years, so the machine points to check are:
- Clamping force sized to base or door projected area
- Platen and tie-bar space for a wide box mould
- Even mould cooling to keep the door face flat
- Clean moulding of seal holes and tamper-evident lugs
- UV-stabilised FR grades for boxes mounted outdoors
- Drying for FR PC and PC/ABS before moulding
Recommended Machine for Electricity Meter Boxes
Single-phase boxes and doors that fit the clamp suit the H Series (120-350 T), and smaller boxes the C Series (140-320 T). Larger multi-meter boxes are discussed on request. BMC boxes need a thermoset machine, and Pratishna Engineers builds Special Purpose Injection Moulding Machines to application for them.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Points meter box buyers raise when sizing a machine.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Electricity Meter Boxes?
Boxes within the clamp range of the C or H Series run on those machines. Bigger boxes need more tonnage than standard series offer and are reviewed against the mould on request. Why Do Some Utilities Specify BMC Meter Boxes?
BMC is a thermoset that does not soften in a fire and holds up outdoors. It needs a stuffer feed, a cool barrel and a heated mould, so it runs on a machine built for thermoset. What Causes Meter Box Doors to Warp?
Uneven wall thickness, uneven mould cooling and high moulded-in stress on the large flat door. Ribbing, balanced cooling circuits and correct gate position reduce the warpage that stops doors closing on site.
Are SMC Meter Boxes Injection Moulded?
No. SMC sheet compound is compression moulded in a press, not injection moulded. BMC is the thermoset compound that can be injection moulded on a suitable machine. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Electricity Meter Box?
Yes. Share the box and door drawings, material, part weights, mould dimensions and monthly quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine or advise on larger sizes.Does the Machine Suit Other Electrical and Electronics Parts Too?
Yes. Similar machines can mould electrical enclosures, smart meter enclosures, distribution board enclosures and inverter bodies, subject to the specific mould.
