Injection Moulding Machine for Electrical Enclosures

Electrical enclosures, the base and lid boxes that house wiring and controls, are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from PC, FR ABS, PC/ABS or glass-filled PA6. Box footprint and depth set clamping force and mould height. Warpage control on the sealing face matters more than surface gloss, because a bowed face leaks.

Selection for an enclosure range looks at the largest box, the depth of draw and how inserts for panel mounting are added. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for electrical enclosure moulding and can recommend a configuration for your sizes.

Machine Requirements for Electrical Enclosure Moulding

Enclosures are deep boxes with a lid that must seal, so the points to check on the machine are:

  • Mould height and opening stroke for deep boxes
  • Even cooling to hold the gasket groove face flat
  • Drying for PC and PC/ABS to avoid splay
  • Brass inserts moulded in or pressed in after moulding
  • UV-stabilised PC grades for outdoor enclosures
  • Glass-filled PA6 needing a wear-resistant screw

Recommended Machine for Electrical Enclosures

Small enclosures and lids sit well on the E Series (75-180 T). Mid-sized boxes and two-cavity lid moulds move up to the C Series (140-320 T). Deeper bodies that need more opening stroke to clear the core suit the H Series (120-350 T). The largest enclosures are reviewed against the mould on request.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

What enclosure makers ask about machine choice and moulding.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Electrical Enclosures?
E Series machines handle small boxes and lids, while bigger and deeper enclosures go to the C or H Series. Very large boxes are checked against mould size and tonnage separately.
  • How Are Brass Inserts Added to a Plastic Enclosure?
Inserts are either placed in the mould before each shot and moulded in, or pressed or heat-staked into moulded bosses afterwards. Moulding in needs insert loading time and preheated inserts in some cases.
  • Which Material Suits Outdoor Electrical Enclosures?
PC with added UV inhibitors is a common choice for outdoor boxes, since it keeps impact strength in the sun. FR ABS and PC/ABS suit indoor enclosures and glass-filled PA6 suits stiffer bodies.
  • Can BMC Enclosures Be Made on the Same Machine?
No. BMC is a thermoset compound that needs a different screw, barrel and mould heating. BMC enclosures can be discussed with Pratishna Engineers separately from thermoplastic boxes.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Electrical Enclosure?
Yes. Share the enclosure drawing, material, box depth, part weight, mould dimensions, insert details and production quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Electrical and Electronics Parts Too?
Yes. Similar machines can mould electricity meter boxes, solar junction boxes, stabiliser housings and router housings, subject to the specific mould.
