Injection Moulding Machine for Distribution Board Enclosures and Doors

Distribution board enclosures and doors are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, as a base with DIN rail supports and a separate front door, from flame-retardant ABS, PC/ABS or FR PP. Machine size follows the projected area of the base, its depth and the mould height. Base flatness, so that breakers seat on the rail, matters most.

Selection for DB enclosures focuses on mould height and opening stroke for a deep base, and enough clamp margin for a wide door. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for distribution board enclosure production and can recommend a configuration across your board sizes.

Manufacturing DB Enclosures?

Share base and door drawings for each way size, with the grade, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.

Machine Requirements for DB Enclosure and Door Moulding

A DB enclosure holds breakers on a rail and closes with a visible door, so these points shape the machine choice:

  • DIN rail supports held straight so breakers seat
  • Knock-out positions and thin break-out webs filled cleanly
  • Higher flame class grade in the base holding live parts
  • Flat front door with uniform gloss or texture
  • Hinge pins and catches kept clear of weak weld lines
  • Mould height and stroke for the deepest base size

Recommended Machine for DB Enclosures and Doors

Doors and compact boards often fit the E Series (75-180 T). Mid-size bases move to the C Series (140-320 T). As the way count rises the base grows wider and deeper, and the H Series (120-350 T) adds platen area, mould height and clamp margin. Doors can often run on a smaller machine than their own base.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions switchgear and DB makers ask before setting up production.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make DB Enclosures and Doors?
Doors and smaller boards can run on the E Series, mid-size bases on the C Series and the largest bases on the H Series. The deepest base in the range usually sets the machine size.
  • Why Do Breakers Not Seat on Some Moulded Bases?
A warped base bends the DIN rail line, so breakers rock or will not click home. Uneven wall thickness, unbalanced cooling and early ejection of a hot base are the usual causes.
  • Do the Base and Door Need the Same Flame-Rated Grade?
Not always. Parts that hold live components need the higher glow wire class, while an outer door can often use a lower class. The approved grade for each part should be fixed before tool trials.
  • Can DB Enclosures Be Made in BMC or SMC?
Yes, some are. BMC is moulded on thermoset machines and SMC is usually compression moulded, so both need a different process from the thermoplastic enclosures covered here.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My DB Enclosure?
Yes. Share the base and door drawings for each size, grade, mould dimensions, cavities and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine or a set of machines.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Electrical Enclosures Too?
Yes. The same machines can mould electrical enclosures, electricity meter boxes, smart meter enclosures and stabiliser housings, depending on mould size.
