Injection Moulding Machine for Charger Housings

Charger housings, the two-part adaptor shells around a power supply, are made on small horizontal injection moulding machines in multi-cavity moulds, from FR PC, FR ABS or PC/ABS. Cavity count and shot weight size the machine. Steady shrinkage matters more than gloss, because the halves are ultrasonically welded and must meet evenly.

For adaptor shells, selection focuses on shot-to-shot repeatability, mould temperature control and clean energy-director edges. Pratishna Engineers offers hybrid and horizontal injection moulding machines suited to charger housing production and can recommend a configuration for your shells.

Machine Requirements for Charger Housing Moulding

Charger shells must weld closed, pass flame and heat checks, and look clean, so the machine should give:

  • Repeatable shrinkage so shell halves weld without gaps
  • Sharp, flash-free energy director along the weld joint
  • Flame-rated grades handled without overheating in the barrel
  • Drying of FR PC and PC/ABS before moulding
  • Heat deflection checked at the real internal temperature
  • Balanced filling across multi-cavity shell moulds

Recommended Machine for Charger Housings

Hybrid PH Series (120-140 T) machines suit multi-cavity shell moulds where electric injection gives steady shot weight. Smaller adaptor tools run well on the E Series (75-180 T). Family moulds for large laptop adaptor shells, or high-cavity tools, need a bigger press: C Series (140-320 T) first, H Series (120-350 T) where the mould base is wider.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Answers for charger and adaptor makers planning shell moulding.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Charger Housings?
Hybrid PH machines lead for multi-cavity adaptor shells, and the E Series runs smaller tools. Bigger laptop adaptor shells and high-cavity family moulds may need C or H Series tonnage.
  • Why Do Charger Shells Fail Ultrasonic Welding?
Shrinkage varies between shots or cavities, or the energy director is rounded or flashed. Both leave weak or uneven welds. Steady moulding conditions and a well-kept parting line fix many cases.
  • Which Material Suits a Fast Charger Housing?
FR PC handles the heat of compact fast chargers well. FR ABS and PC/ABS suit cooler designs, and heat deflection should be checked at the actual inside temperature, not a datasheet value.
  • Does FR PC Need Drying Before Moulding?
Yes. FR PC and PC/ABS absorb moisture, which causes splay, brittle shells and weak welds. Dry the grade as its supplier advises and keep it dry in the hopper.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Charger Housing?
Yes. Share the shell drawings, material, part weight, mould dimensions, cavity count and monthly quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Electrical and Electronics Parts Too?
Yes. Similar machines can mould power bank housings, remote control housings, electric plug tops and mobile phone housings, subject to the specific mould.
