Injection Moulding Machine for Lipstick Cases

Lipstick cases are made on horizontal injection moulding machines in multi-cavity moulds, with ABS or SAN for the outer barrel and cap and POM for the twist mechanism. Machine size depends on cavity count, shot weight and barrel core length, and the fit between sleeve and mechanism relies on steady shrinkage from shot to shot.

Selection for lipstick cases centres on repeatable shot size for small parts, stable melt and mould temperature, and room for slides in mechanism tools. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for lipstick case production and can recommend a configuration for each part in the set.

Machine Requirements for Lipstick Case Moulding

A lipstick case is a set of parts that must twist without play and close with a click. Points to check:

  • Low-friction POM grades for spiral and cup parts
  • Glossy ABS or SAN outer sleeve without flow lines
  • Even wall on long barrel cores to avoid core shift
  • Stable shrinkage for the cap click fit on the barrel
  • Slides or side actions for slotted mechanism tubes
  • Small, repeatable shot weight on multi-cavity tools

Recommended Machine for Lipstick Cases

Lipstick parts are small, so the E Series (75-180 T) runs many barrel, base and mechanism moulds, with robot pickup where volume calls for it. Larger cavity counts, cap and sleeve family tools, or moulds with several slides may need the platen space and stroke of the C or H Series.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

What lipstick case makers ask us before a machine trial.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Lipstick Cases?
Horizontal machines at the smaller end of the range are typical. The E Series handles single parts in multi-cavity tools, while family moulds or high cavity counts for caps and sleeves are better sized to the C or H Series.
  • Why Is POM Used for the Lipstick Twist Mechanism?
The spiral, cup and slotted tube slide against each other every time the case is turned. POM gives low friction, good wear and tight dimensional control, so the bullet rises evenly without sticking or wobbling.
  • How Is a Good Fit Held Between Sleeve and Mechanism?
Fit is a shrinkage question. ABS or SAN sleeves and POM inner parts shrink differently, so melt temperature, mould temperature and holding pressure are kept steady rather than pushed for a faster cycle.
  • How Is the Gate Hidden on a Lipstick Barrel?
Barrels are often gated at the base end or on an inside face, with a submarine or pin gate, so no gate mark shows on the cosmetic sleeve. Gating at one end also helps even filling around the long core.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Lipstick Case?
Yes. Share drawings or samples of each part, materials, cavity count per mould, mould dimensions, number of slides and target monthly output, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Cosmetic Case Parts Too?
Yes. Similar machines can produce compact cases, mascara and lip gloss tubes, deodorant stick containers and makeup brush handles, depending on the mould and material.
