Injection Moulding Machine for Hair Brushes

Hair brush bases, handles and bristle plates are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from PP, ABS or nylon, with soft TPE grips often added as a second shot. Paddle base projected area sets the clamp force though the part is light, and venting around cushion pads and air holes matters more than injection pressure.

Selection starts with the paddle footprint, then whether the soft grip is moulded in one machine or added later. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal machines for single-material brush parts, builds special purpose injection moulding machines to application for two-material versions, and can recommend a configuration.

Machine Requirements for Hair Brush Moulding

A hair brush can be one rigid moulding or a rigid base with a soft overmould. Points to check:

  • Clamp force sized to the flat paddle projected area
  • Vents around cushion pads and air release holes
  • Accurate tuft holes for bristles fitted after moulding
  • Dried PA6 for heat-resistant blow-dry brush bases
  • Bond between rigid base and soft TPE grip
  • Flat paddle without warpage for pad and plate fit

Recommended Machine for Hair Brushes

Two-shot brushes, with rigid base and TPE grip moulded in one cycle, need a special purpose machine built to application, which Pratishna Engineers builds. Single-material bases, handles and bristle plates run on standard machines: the E Series (75-180 T) for smaller brushes, the C or H Series for wide paddle bases.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Brush makers ask these questions most often.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Hair Brushes?
Machine choice follows the build. Single-material bases and handles suit the E Series for small brushes and the C or H Series for wide paddles. A soft grip moulded in the same cycle needs a special purpose machine built to application.
  • Can the Soft Grip Be Added Without a Two-Shot Machine?
Yes, in some designs. The rigid handle is moulded first, then placed as an insert in a second mould where TPE is overmoulded. Material pairing and surface condition decide how well the grip bonds.
  • Are Bristles Moulded With the Brush?
It depends on the brush. Nylon filament bristles are bought in and tufted into holes after moulding, so only the base and handle are mouldings. Some cushion brushes use pins moulded on a separate bristle plate.
  • Why Does a Paddle Brush Need a Larger Clamp Than Its Weight Suggests?
Clamping force depends on projected area and cavity pressure, not part weight. A paddle base is wide and flat, so its footprint sets the tonnage, and the same shape is prone to warpage if cooling is uneven.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Hair Brush?
Yes. Share the brush drawing or sample, materials, grip and bristle method, mould dimensions, cavity count and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Personal Care Handles Too?
Yes. Similar machines can mould combs, makeup brush handles, toothbrush holders and salon appliance housings, subject to the mould and whether a second material is needed.
